Well, last week we got the resurgence of Barney spot on and also got a nice win on the highest checkout in the James Wade match.
However, James Wade couldn’t close out our bet on the handicap, even though he should have been 7-4 up and cruising. He missed his doubles, just like another of our picks, Adrian Lewis. Lewis should have won his match against Simon Whitlock quite comfortably, but ended up losing 8-4 after landing 15% of his doubles. Still some very nice betting opportunities for week 6 of the Premier League and we’ve got our tips coming right up.

Phil Taylor Vs Terry Jenkins
Well, The Power dropped his first point last week against his Premier League nemesis, Mervyn King. Both men played exceptional darts at times, which isn’t unusual for Phil Taylor. Taylor is coming off a great weekend, where he won both floor tournaments, dropping very few legs in the process. In fact, he whitewashed Jamie Caven in the final on Sunday, which shows the form he’s in at the moment.
Taylor averaged 101 last week when drawing with Mervyn King and King had to average 99.45 just to get a draw. Terry Jenkins, in losing to Raymond van Barneveld, averaged 98, but the fact he didn’t get too many shots at a double means his average was slightly artificial. Jenkins will do well to get pas Taylor and I can’t see it happening this week. Taylor averaged 121.86 in the final of the Wigan UK Open Qualifier against Jamie Caven and although I can’t see that happening against Jenkins, the fact Taylor very rarely averages under 100 these days shows the mountain Jenkins has to climb.
However, unlike most Phil Taylor matches, we’ve actually found a bet for tonight and it’s on the highest checkout.

Raymond van Barneveld Vs Mervyn King
This is the tie of the night, in my opinion. Is Barney back to his best? Will Mervyn bring the A-game? Both questions will be answered by the time the last dart is thrown and it’s a trappy match for bettors, as both men are capable of throwing utter garbage and they’re also capable over putting in the highest average of the night. Now, it’s not often that Barney would be the outsider of the two against Mervyn King, but that’s the situation he finds himself in after such a poor start to the Premier League, while Mervyn King has been pretty imperious, even taking a point from Phil Taylor.
However, Barney’s average of a shade under 107 might be a return to form. His opponent, Terry Jenkins, averaged around 98 and although it isn’t a true reflection of the match (as Jenkins had so few shots at doubles), it’s a good marker of King’s standard, as he’ll no doubt average around 100. So, we know Barney can do that and the sounds coming out of his camp this week say that he’s very happy with his darts set-up right now. So, with that in mind, we’re going to take a chance with Barney tonight, because at his best, he’s a very hard man to beat. Last week’s win will have given him the confidence he needs, because Barney’s problems are mostly in his head.

Adrian Lewis Vs Ronnie Baxter
I could only let out a huge sigh last week as Adrian Lewis decided he hates hitting doubles against Simon Whitlock. It was the same sigh I let out when Ronnie Baxter mounted his comeback against James Wade (although I tihnk it’s safe to say I blame James Wade for that, not Ronnie Baxter).
Lewis really needs to have a word with himself after losing last week and he averaged 83.64 thanks to hitting 15% of his doubles. He hit 25 100+ scores and yet he managed to average in the low 80s, which is almost unheard of. Baxter, on the other hand, showed a great fighting spirit and averaged 103.86. His avaraged throughout the Premier League have been very impressive, as has his checking out. He’s sitting third and the league and deservedly so.
So, to keep this simple, I’m going against Adrian Lewis and I think the bookies have priced this up all wrong. Baxter is a very, very tasty price and we’re going to take the bookies on this one. Seriously, the 11/5 on offer is all wrong and there is no way I’d have Adrian Lewis favourite, as I don’t think his head will be in it after last week’s performance, which is ideal for a high scoring Ronnie Baxter to do him over convincingly.
Ronnie Baxter to beat Adrian Lewis: 11/5 @ Stan James.

Simon Whitlock Vs James Wade
A very interesting match against “The Enigma” and the grumpiest man in darts. Yes, Whitlock has confused the hell out of everyone so far and James Wade has decided that he’s too good for darts at times. He’s got too big for his boots and it’s shown in his performances so far. He’s sitting bottom of the Premier League with only 2 draws to his name, while Whitlock is fourth with 2 wins and a draw.
Wade averaged over 101 against Ronnie Baxter last week, while Whitlock averaged 82.89 against Adrian Lewis. On last week’s showing, James Wade should take care of Whitlock, but is it that simple? Well, in my opinion…yes. Wade is odds-against and we know he can score heavily. Whitlock shouldn’t have won last week, it was only down to the fact Adrian Lewis couldn’t check out for love nor money that he won. Wade’s scoring should see him through against a dangerous opponent.
James Wade to beat Simon Whitlock: 11/10 @ Stan James.
Recommend: 2.5 units @ 11/10.
