The Premier League bandwagon rolls into Yorkshire and, I’ll be honest, last week in Glasow was a bit lacklustre. The consistency of the rest of the field has been woeful at best and it never seems like Phil Taylor will actually get challenged. Yes, the scores say he was pushed a bit last week, but the reality is, he missed some chances and the scoreline flattered to deceive.
The Premier League started so promisingly for Mervyn King, but he was shown up last week by James Wade and Terry Jenkins must have to ask a serious question about himself after his recent showings. The fact is, these players, in comparison with Phil Taylor, might as well be Paul Nicholson, Gary Anderson, John Part, Mark Webster, or any of the rest of the top PDC players, as they’re all trading wins with each other, without stealing the show.
That being said, we have money to win and win money we shall! Enough of the money, I’ve got some fantastic bets lines up for the Premier League Darts this week.

Adrian Lewis Vs Terry Jenkins:
You know, both men can be ashamed with their performances at times. Lewis’ doubling has been terrible, while Jenkins hasn’t found any consistency at all. His 8-3 defeat last week at the hands of Simon Whitlock is proof that the consistency isn’t there. Jenkins averaged 88.8 and his highest checkout was 52. Good enough for the Premier League? Not by a long way.
Lewis, on the other hand, has been scoring well, it’s just his finishing that seems to have gone. He did defeat Raymond van Barneveld, averaging 101.64, however, so we know his scoring is there. He done us last week with a misplaced dart into single 1 that left him on a higher checkout that he should have been on, so I can’t forgive him! Still, he didn’t let us down for most of the match with his finishing, just that one time.
Lewis should have enough in his locker to take care of Jenkins and the fact The Bull is sitting bottom of the league sums it up. Lewis will have around 10 points on him on average and that will be enough, even if Lewis’ checking out isn’t going all guns blazing. But the 1/2 on offer for Lewis doesn’t tempt me, but I think it will be as near to a whitewash as possible. Not many legs in this match (maybe around 10-11), so the 180 count should be low.

Ronnie Baxter Vs Mervyn King:
Baxter’s average against Phil Taylor was the true reflection of his performance, not the scoreline. He was outclassed and it finally seems like his Premier League glory might be starting to die out. His peformances, while starting off impressive enough, have started to peter out a bit. He shocked Mervyn King the first time they played, after King had beaten him twice in the same weekend and King was a lot shorted in price than he is now.
Baxter averaged 88 against Phil Taylor. Players tend to have false averages against Taylor (usually artifically high), as Taylor doesn’t let them have many chances at doubles. So, Baxter’s true average might even be a little less. King averaged 95 in defeat to James Wade and didn’t look impressive at all, even though he managed to take four legs.
There is a gulf in class here and I think the bookies have reacted a bit too hastily with Baxter’s form. I expect King to win and win comfortably and the price on offer at Stan James means I’m making my Christmas money early.

Recommend: 4 units @ 5/6
James Wade Vs Phil Taylor:
I won’t waste your time here. The markets are about right, James Wade is not likely to win after his Premier League season so far. Phil Taylor will start slow and dismantle Wade as the match goes on. Want a bet? Well, I certainly don’t. Save your cash for the next match, as there’s better value to be had elsewhere tonight.
Recommend: No bet.
Raymond van Barneveld Vs Simon Whitlock:
Two old BDO stalwarts going toe to toe again and while one is the new shining star of the PDC, the other is in rapid decline. Whitlock took his first PDC Tour event in Barnsley at the weekend and will belooking to ride that high into Sheffield against a Barney who is seemingly losing any love he had for the game. He should have beat Lewis last week, but didn’t have the knockout punch, whereas Whitlock systematically took apart Terry Jenkins, even though his average was nothing special. You have to remember he’s playing a man who is struggling to check anything over 100 out, whereas he can take out 120+ checkouts for fun.
Whitlock is looking good for a win here and the fact many bookies don’t know who should be favourite is impressive. I’ve seen some favour Barney, others favour Whitlock and some can’t split them. Whitlock all the way here.
