A brilliant day and I honestly think we were unlucky, especially with Terry Jenkins and Justin Pipe. John Henderson letting Stacy Bromberg win a couple of legs was nothing short of terrible and although Bromberg played better than she did against King, it was still unacceptable for Henderson to lose two legs!

Scott Waites vs Martin Phillips:
Oh, this is a tasty, tasty encounter. Both men impressed in their first round matches, averaging high and beating some top opposition. The question is, where does the value lie? Well, the simple answer is it’s the man from Wales. He took out a man in Adrian Lewis who is on top form, while Waites’ dip after leading 4-0 was a bit of a concern. Phillips is the dog, so we have to have a dabble on him.

Adrian Lewis vs Co Stompe Both somewhat unfortunate losers in the first round, but Co Stompe and Adrian Lewis did play well in patches, with Stompe showing some better form than Lewis, when it came down to it. Stompe being such a big dog is a bit worrying, but we have to keep the faith in The Matchstick, as his price is just a bit too big to ignore. It should be close, but I think the Dutchman will take it.

Raymond van Barneveld vs Colin Lloyd:
A somewhat lucky winner against a man who had to beat Tricia Wright. The form says Barney, the prices say Barney, I say Barney and I also say, just enjoy this match and grab yourself a drink.

Darryl Fitton vs Tricia Wright:
This is no contest, really. Wright might take a leg or two – she was unlucky with her chance against Barney – but Fitton has too much in his locker when it comes to scoring. No shocks here, move along!

Ronnie Baxter vs Paul Nicholson:
Paul Nicholson is such an enigma. He hasn’t done too much on TV since January, but he put in a decent performance seeing off Arron Monk. However, Baxter put in a very solid performance against Steve Beaton and, looking at the form lines, Baxter should win this and cement his place at the top of the group.

Steve Beaton vs Arron Monk
Arron Monk was an unlucky loser against Paul Nicholson yesterday, but he showed some evidence he’ll be a top player in the years to come. Beaton, on the other hand, was solid, if unspectacular in his lose to Ronnie Baxter. I think Beaton’s experience should shine through here, but the prices look prohibitive, as 8/11 isn’t my cup of tea, especially against someone like Monk, who could just pull something out of the bag.
Recommend: No bet.
Phil Taylor vs Ted Hankey:
Oh, we’ve been waiting for this since before the last Grand Slam of Darts. The Count takes on The Power. It’s multi-time world champion facing another multi-time world champion. The crowd will be going mental for this match and they’ll be on Hankey back from his walk-on. That being said, Hankey impressed in his first match, while Taylor really didn’t, thanks to his poor doubling. This might just be closer than the bookies have it and I think a speculative dabble on Hankey, who will have something to prove, is the order of the day.

Wes Newton vs Michael van Gerwen:
Both men didn’t look too convincing in their first matches of the Grand Slam of Darts and will be hoping to bounce back. Really, Newton is still the form player in the PDC, while Van Gerwen has done little of note this year, except make the final of the under-21 championship last week and almost get an ITV Wildcard for this event. Newton was favourite in his first match, he’s favourite here again and I think this time it’s justified, as van Gerwen looked seriously patchy against a below-par Phil Taylor.
