It’s the second day’s tips of the PDC World Championships and I will admit that this was written and published a day in advance(unless you’re receiving this via the mailing list!), simply because I’m at the Alexandra Palace for the first couple of days of the tournament, so I’ll have an overview of the results in the next update. Apologies, but I’m sure you can’t blame me, especially as the saviour of Darts Betting Tips, Co Stompe, will be playing!
Anyway, day two looks to be a lot more exciting than day one in terms of evenly contested match-ups. Also, if you want to ensure the tips stay free, please take the time to sign-up to one or two of the bookies offering free bets.

So you’ve not got some free money to be with, so let’s commence with the tips for day two of the PDC World Championships.
Co Stompe (17) vs Peter Wright.
Co Stompe, loved by the crowd, loved by this website and, most importantly, usually underestimated by the bookies starts his World Championship bid against Peter Wright. To be honest, you know what you’re going to get with Wright. He lost on his debut in the PDC World Championships last year – 3-1 to Michael van Gerwen and he comes up against a Dutchman in a rich vein of form. Stompe has been exceptional on TV recently, with a decent showing at the Grand Slam of Darts, where he was consistently firing in high averages, followed up by a win in the PDC World Cup. His scoring in the World Cup was phenomenal and if he carries that on here, Wright simply won’t be able to live with him. Stompe is priced up around 1/5. It’s one of those ones where the price is right, you won’t get rich from back him, so it’s best left alone. He should, looking at both his form and Wright’s, ease to a win here, but there is no real value in any of the markets, so we’ll just settle in, get a beer or two and sing, “Play up, Stompe! Stompe, play up!”
Recommend: No bet.
Roland Scholten vs Veijo Viinikka – Prelim match.
Nothing to say here, other than it’s a race to 4 legs, Roland Scholten has experience on his side and will be looking at this match as a chance to get back into the fold in the PDC, after a bad shoulder injury and some lacklustre form over the last few years has seen him slide down the rankings. However, these best of 7 matches can be a lottery and Viinikka might be able to do something. At 4/9, in this kind of match, although Scholten SHOULD win, it’s still a lottery, so we’ll sit this out.
Recommend: No bet.
Colin Lloyd (9) vs Andree Welge.
Colin Lloyd has shown some form in 2010 which many, including myself, thought he had lost. He’s scoring well, finishing well and his opponent, Andree Welge, shouldn’t cause Jaws too many problems. Welge is a perennial last 64 player in the floor tournaments and if it was a floor tournament, race to 6, he would be shorter to win, but this is first to 3 sets and Lloyd should be too good. In the past 3 months, Lloyd has won two floor tournaments and made the final in another. The fact is, he’s got something Welge has, which is experience. The prices are around 1/5 for Lloyd, which is fair enough.
However, one thing that sticks out is that I don’t think this will be a high scoring affair and it might be over in the space of 9-12 legs, so the 180s is where we want to be. The line is 4.5, which I like the look of to take the unders.

Adrian Lewis (5) vs Tony Eccles.
As silly as this might sound, I’m looking forward to this match. Adrian Lewis has had a decent 2010, although he lost his way slightly at the Grand Slam of Darts. Tony Eccles has been around the block and knows the score when it comes to the World Championships.
Eccles is sitting 33rd in the PDC Order of Merit, so it’s proof he’s no mug. However, Lewis, being the 5th seed, should probably have too much. Their first meeting came in the 2008 World Championships, which Lewis won 4-3. Since then, their head-to-head record is 4-3 in favour of Lewis, with Eccles winning their last two encounters.
So, looking at that, this match might be closer than the bookies have it. While I still can’t see past a Lewis victory, Eccles should have enough to snatch at least a set, so we’ll be taking him on the handicap.
Tony Eccles +2.5 vs Adrian Lewis 8/11 @ Blue Square.
Recommend: 2 units @ 8/11
Ronnie Baxter (8) vs Scholten/Viinikka.
The last match of the night is undecided yet, although hopefully it will be Ronnie Baxter taking on Roland Scholten. If it is, it could be a cracker if Scholten is back to any kind of form. However, obviously there are no prices out and I wouldn’t be betting against Baxter, anyway, so the point is moot.
Recommend: No bet.
And that’s all for day two of the PDC World Championships. Not an inspiring night for betting, but it should make for an exciting night, especially if The Viper can take at least a set off of Adrian Lewis. We’ll keep the late Christmas fund ticking over and we’ll be back over the weekend, when I’ll be back from the Alexandra Palace after my pilgrimage to see Co Stompe.
