Now, last night’s tips were, in all honestly, not the greatest. We saw Ronnie Baxter get thumped and were on the wrong side of two 6-5 defeats. All I’ll say is that I have no idea how Wayne Jones makes a decent living playing floor tournaments when he doubles like that. I’ve never seen him double all that well on TV and since this wasn’t on TV, I had high hopes. That hopes weren’t founded. Still, I’m hoping we can push through this and make some real money now.

Terry Jenkins vs Vincent van der Voort.
Terry Jenkins had a great end to 2010 with his run at the World Championship. Vincent van der Voort also had a good run, losing in the quarter-finals to the eventual winner, Adrian Lewis. Van der Voort started 2011 well, getting to one final and Halle and going deep in the other. Jenkins made the fourth round in both events losing 6-5 both days. So, this match should be a cracker.
If I’m being honest, the value here lies with van der Voort. While Jenkins holds the upper-hand in the head-to-head, van der Voort is finding the form he had pre-injury and he could actually go well here this weekend.

Mervyn King vs Co Stompe.
A man who hopefully found some form in the shape of Mervyn King against another man who seems woefully out of form in Co Stompe. Stompe had a shocking World Championship and his first tuornament of 2011 saw him bow out in his first match. King’s first tuornament since a pretty poor World Championship saw him win the Saturday tournament in Halle where he beat some of the big names of the sport along the way. Simply put, the price is right for King to take out Stompe and I fancy him to do it handsomly.

Wes Newton vs Richie Burnett.
The surprise package of the 2011 World Championship, Wes Newton, takes on a former World Champion in the form of Richie Burnett. Simply put, I think Newton should have enguoh to take this and the price are about right. Chill out during this match and grab a beer or a Coke.
Recommend: No bet.
Mark Webster vs Alan Tabern.
Remember that beer/Coke you were drinking? Go get yourself another one, as Mark Webster will be wanting to prove something against Alan Tabern and he’ll be thinking that 2011 is his time to kick on now that he’s got the Premier League place and proved he could take out Phil Taylor on the biggest stage of all. The sad thing is that Webster is no value in a race to 6.
Recommend: No bet.
Simon Whitlock vs Tony Eccles.
I first thought that this match might be close, judging on the indifferent form of Simon Whitlock, but he went deep in the Saturday tournament in Halle, while Eccles played his steadily inconsistent game. Whitlock needs a good run here to boost his confidence, so he’ll be looking to dismantle The Viper here. 2/7 for Whitlock is no price at all, sadly, as I think he’s a good thing here. The handicap line is of no use, either and because it’s a non-televised tournament, the special markets aren’t up to much.
Recommend: No bet.
James Wade vs Mark Dudbridge.
Ugh, this is why I hate the big players being kept until the end of the night, as we can’t find a bet, especially in smaller tournaments where the markets aren’t great. Wade should overcome Dudbridge, even thoguh his form hasn’t been that great, simply because his scoring is consistently heavy compared to Dudbridge, who blows hot and cold.
Recommend: No bet.
Phil Taylor vs Steve Brown.
Phil Taylor is 2/9 here and although it’s not value, it’s fair. While Taylor isn’t playing the best darts of his life, he should have enough to get through this match against Steve Brown. Brown has been playing decent darts, but is it good enoguh darts to match Phil Taylor, even when Taylor isn’t firing on all cylinders? No.
Recommend: No bet.
Adrian Lewis vs Steve Beaton.
The World Champion makes his comeback after a great end to 2010/start to 2011. I love the look of this match on paper, as although Adrian Lewis is the current World Champion, Steve Beaton is a former World Champion and showed some he can still play some great darts in 2010, especially at the Grand Slam of Darts. This is going to be close and I think the fact that Lewis didn’t play in Halle might just be the deciding factor here. Beaton is overpriced simply because he’s playing the World Champion. Beaton likes the floor tournaments and I think he’s going to have too much for Jackpot. At the prices, we can’t say no.
