Well, a strange start to the Premier League Darts campaign. Some great performances by Mark Webster, Gary Anderson and Adrian Lewis, but one of the worst performances Phil Taylor has ever put in on television.
We went 2-1 last week, for a profit of +2.3 units, with Taylor letting us down big time for the perfect start to the Premier League Darts season. Still, we’re in profit and that’s the most important thing.
Nottingham has somie tasty matches on offer and their Premier League Darts crowds are always great, so expect some fireworks tonight. I’ve picked out a few tasty bets, too, so let’s get to it.

Simon Whitlock versus Raymond van Barneveld.
Last week was a tale of two defeats for Simon Whitlock and Raymond van Barneveld. While Whitlock can count himself unfortunate to have lost to Gary Anderson, after having doubles to get back into it in the final leg, Barney was just shocking in defeat to a poor Terry Jenkins.
Barney’s average of 89.73 is a sign of what has happened to the once great Dutchman. While it’s foolish to completely write off his chances of coming back to form, he hasn’t looked the same man that won 5 world titles for a long, long time. Whitlock, on the other hand, with his 99.09 average last week, is looking like getting back to some kind of form.
The bookies has Whitlock favourite and rightly so. In fact, going by last week’s performances and the form of the players over the past year, Whitlock is a huge price, in my opinion and one we’ll be making the bookies pay for.

Adrian Lewis versus James Wade.
The World Champion, Adrian Lewis, takes on the man many thought would be the next in line to the World Champion’s crown, James Wade. simply put, Wade was terrible last week in his defeat to Mark Webster. He started off well, but fell to an average of 86,79, throwing in scores of 20-something 40-something, while Webster played his usual game and thumped him 8-3. Adrian Lewis, as i’m sure we all know, humiliated Phil Taylor, averaging 100.79 and hitting 6 180s.
The form of both men is totally contrasting and it’s strange to see the prices the way they are, as Lewis is another one I would havea lot shorter going by their performances last week. Wade hasn’t been right since his defat in the Grand Slam of Darts to Scott Waites, while Lewis has a no found confidence that will make him hard to beat. I think this price is all wrong and just like Simon Whitlock, we’re going to take advantage of that.

Phil Taylor versus Mark Webster.
Phil Taylor averaged 90.54 last week. Yes, you read that right. Mark Webster, on the other hand, averaged 98.05 and looked very impressive. Webster also took care of Taylor at the World Championships (which we all backed, of course) and so this is gonig to be a tough one. Taylor can turn it on when he feels like it, but does he feel like it? Plus, Webster’s new-found confidence might just take him through.
I would hate to back against Taylor should he find some form, but Webster has been playing to well to ignore and Taylor’s shocking performance last week is something we can’t just sweep under the carpet. Webster’s price is just too big.

Gary Anderson versus Terry Jenkins.
Gary Anderson crawled over the line last week, after losing his way towards the end of the match. That being said, he averaged 97.02 in beating Simon Whitlock, so he didn’t play too badly, overall. Terry Jenkins, on the other hand, was shocking, even though he managed to beat Raymond van Barneveld. His average of 90.73 doesn’t tell the full story of just how bad both Jenkins and Barney played in their match last week.
In short, Anderson should win this comfortably, but the price just isn’t tempting me at all.
Recommend: No bet.
