Well, Day One of the UK Open was quite uneventful. We saw a lot of the big names progress, one or two casualties. Oh, and Phil Taylor lost to Aden Kirk. I’m sure you’re asking, ‘Who?’ Well, I’ll be honest, I know about as much as you. He’s played on the Challenge Tour, the Youth Tour and hasn’t done much to make an impression. Well, his name goes down in the history books for causing one of the biggest upsets not just in darts, but in sport. Today, it’s another early start and we have some fantastic matches. We start on the main stage with James Wade and Kim Huybrechts. Then it’s the all-Dutch battle between Cristian Kist and Vincent van der Voort. Michael van Gerwen takes on Andy Hamilton and then Aden Kirk gets the pleasure of taking on Peter Wright fresh off the back of his victory over The Power. Notable other matches include Terry Jenkins taking on Paul Nicholson, Dave Chisnall takes on Mervyn King, Dean Winstanley faces Stephen Bunting, after Bunting played two of the greatest legs of darts to beat Kevin Dowling last night, taking out a 151 with Dowling sitting on a double. Ronny Huybrechts takes on Adrian Lewis, and Mark Webster takes on the impressive Paul Hogan. It’s a stacked line-up and I can’t wait until 11:45!
