End of the week, which means one thing – we’ll be looking at Saturday’s English Premiership matches to see where we can get some value. Of course, there’s a full card of NBA matches, as the teams get right back into the groove after a hectic All-Star Break. As for our golf tips, well, Nick Watney has gone great guns in the first round of the Northern Trust Open, sitting one off the pace after shooting a first round 66. Even though we weren’t stoked with the pick, he was the value and if he can keep this up for three more rounds, we’ll be laughing.
So, let’s get right onto our NBA and English Premiership tips for February 19th and 20th 2015.
NBA Betting Tips for 20th February
Cleveland vs Washington
The Wizards sit just above the Cavs in the standings, but their form isn’t too great at the moment. Sure, they’re a good side, but they’re lost 6 from 8 while the Cavs are still one of the form teams in the competition. Confidence is a great thing, and the Cavs are confident, even though they lost to Chicago before heading off for the All-Star Break. Cleveland -3 is our play here, as the form side should be too strong for a side needing to build some confidence again.
Houston vs Dallas
Dallas have lost twice to Houston so far this season, and without Amare Stoudemire, things aren’t going to be easy. While Rondo returning for the Mavericks is good news, he didn’t exactly look in great form on Thursday. They’ll need a big game from him tonight to avoid a third defeat this season from the high-flying Rockets. Yes, we like the Rockets here, and we would usually take them outright, but there are injury concerns to think about, and what we actually prefer is the points line. We think we’re going to get a lot of points on the board tonight, so over 211 points is the play for this game. Both sides are going to come out firing, so expect a classic.
English Premiership Tips For 20th February, 2015:
As usual, we’ll preview our picks for Saturday’s Premiership action.
Swansea vs Manchester United
Big match for both sides here. Swansea need to prove that losing Wilfred Bony hasn’t hurt them, while Manchester United need to continue building momentum and prove their critics wrong. Gylfi Sigurdsson returns for Swansea, which will be a huge boost, but not as much as Manchester United welcoming back Robin van Persie. And we think RVP might be the difference here. There’s been something missing from Manchester United, but things are slowly clicking and they’re grinding out results. They’re around Evens to beat Swansea here, so we’ll take Manchester United to win as our selection here. We’re not a fan of Swansea without Bony, to be honest.
Hull vs QPR
The proverbial coin flip here, but what’s interesting to us is that Charlie Austin is back for QPR. Now, that might not mean a QPR win, but it does mean a chance for goals for the men from London. Hull shouldn’t be hard pushed to score against a struggling QPR outfit, so both teams to score is a huge price for us at just over evens.
Crystal Palace vs Arsenal
Like Manchester United’s game against Swansea, this is huge for both sides. Like Manchester United, Arsenal need to pick up the points here, and Crystal Palace need all the points they can get, too, to keep them away from the drop zone that Alan Pardew has done so well to street them away from. Arsenal would be the side we would back, but the way Pardew has his side playing, it’s not the greatest bet in the world.We actually like over 2.5 goals here, as a great value bet. Palace aren’t shy in front of goal, and Arsenal’s defense isn’t the must secure in England. And then you have Arsenal – need we say anything about them as an attacking threat? They could get the 3 on their own here.
Aston Villa vs Stoke
We love new managers taking over a club. Remember the high we rode when Neil Lennon took over at Bolton? We make a few bucks from his appointment, that’s for sure. With that in mind, Aston Villa to beat Stoke is our pick of the day. Look at what Sherwood’s visit to the dressing rooms at half-time did for the Villains against Leicester in the FA Cup last weekend. Add in the fact that Agbonlahor and Gil are back from injury, and the Aston Villa price of 7/4 is incredible. Ryan Shawcross is still out for Stoke, which is a huge loss still, and, to be honest, they were shocking in getting thumped by Blackburn in the FA Cup. Seriously, that 7/4 cannot last must longer, so get stuck into it and ride the Sherwood wave.
