We had a cash last week in the European Tour at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship. Tommy Fleetwood finished in the Top 5, and it could have been so much more. He finished just 1 spot off leader Oliver Wilson who had an incredible tournament.
The Portugal Masters has been part of the European Tour since 2007. It takes place at the Oceanico Victoria Golf Course in Vilamoura, Portugal and the course was designed by Arnold Palmer.
The record at thise course was set by Steve Webster on the opening tournament, as he shit an incredible -25. Lee Westwood came close two years later with -23 but we’re never going to see that record broken I don’t think.
Let’s get to the betting tips:

Winner #1: Tommy Fleetwood
We have to ride Tommy Fleetwood again.
He’s on a roll at the moment, with two 2nd place finishes in a row. He’s been so unlucky this year as he also came 2nd in the Volva China Open, and has had a couple of other Top 5 results.
Unfortunately, this is not a good course for him. He has struggled here in the last 2 years and was actually cut in 2012 early on. But he’s just been on a tear lately to the point we have to back him until his next bad finish.
Winner #2: Ross Fisher
Fisher is a whopping 45/1 and it’s going to be tough – but we think the odds are still fair for him to finish in the top 5 at least, hence the E/W bet on him.
Fisher played well here last year, tied for 8th and just 4 off the lead. He also had a good year the year prior obviously, coming 2nd and he almost had it wrapped up.
Fisher has been poor lately in terms of finishes and very inconsistent. However you have to remember that it wasn’t so long ago that he actually won the Tshwane Open back in March. He’s still got what it takes, and there’s value in him at that price.
Winner #3: Shane Lowry
This is one of those bets where as you’re making you think “too obvious” and expect him to get cut by round 2. But there’s no surprise he’s the favourite, and we’d be kicking ourselves if we didn’t back him.
Lowry has a 2nd place finish in the Welsh Open and a 6th place finish in the Links Championship. He’s also had a couple of other Top 5 finishes this tour and you’re just waiting for him to pick up a win this year.
Lowry had a disaster last year and was cut after the 2nd round. But he won here 2 years ago and we just have to bet him at those odds.
PORTUGAL MASTERS RESULTS & ANALYSIS:
Just a complete disaster of a tournament. Bad weather caused multiple delays, and they chopped one round off it and then on the third and final round, ended up canceling play and just going with the second rounds results.
A real shame, as Fleetwood was only 3 behind the Top 5, and always comes in strong. He was also affected by the delays big time. Tournament was just a complete crapshoot.
