This week, the European Tour has the True Thailand Classic, where we will be hoping to continue our success from last time out.

We ended up skipping last week due to being in Las Vegas and having flight troubles – by the time we got back, the tournaments were starting up. However the week before in the European Tour, it was the Dubai Desert Classic 2015. For that tournament, we made two tips – Stephen Gallacher at 25/1 and Bernd Wiesberger at 30/1. Both tips came through as they both placed, for an absolutely excellent week.

Let’s hope for more of that this week.

The True Thailand Classic is part of the European Tour, but is a co-sanctioned event between the Asian Tour and the European Tour. The field for this event is very, very tricky and one where we don’t have much experience with – especially for a course like this.

The biggest name you will recognize is Miguel Angel Jimenez, who is taking part here. It’s quite the interesting field and one where we think there is value on quite a few of the golfers.

However we highly recommend only betting half units or hell – even quarter units. The phrase “going out on a limb” is something we are tossing around the Golf Betting Tips offices this week – these are risky picks and we know it. This is purely for entertainment so please – quarter unit bets or half unit bets at max, and winning anything is a bonus. You honestly may just want to skip this week.

True Thailand Classic 2015 Betting Odds:

  1. Alex Noren: 12/1
  2. Marc Warren: 12/1
  3. Thongchai Jaidee: 14/1
  4. Anirban Lahiri: 18/1
  5. Peter Uihlein: 22/1
  6. Emiliano Grillo: 25/1
  7. Scott Hend: 28/1
  8. Alejandro Canizares: 28/1
  9. Thomas Bjorn: 28/1
  10. Kiradech Aphibarnrat: 33/1

As you can see it’s tricky – in our eyes, the biggest name from the European Tour is Jimenez and he isn’t even cracking the top 10. He’s sitting at 35/1.

True Thailand Classic Winner #1: Marc Warren

Our threshold for E/W bets is 10/1, and Warren just scrapes in above that. Warren came 9th last time out at the Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club, when he participated in the Maybank Malaysian Open. What was really notable about Warren however is that he got better as the tournament went in. While he didn’t have any amazing rounds that would win him the tournament – he got a solid 9th place in a very tough field.

With an easier field, we think Warren has a great chance at taking this one. He is a very consistent golfer, and we feel comfortable going with him over Noren.

True Thailand Classic Winner #2: Scott Hend

Honestly – at 28/1 we’re not sure Hend is worth the value but we’re really throwing caution to the wind this week.

Hend has a solid history on this course, coming 7th last year here in the Kings Cup, and interestingly 3rd back in 2010. That shows he has a good grasp of this course – an advantage many of the others don’t have. He also played here before that although on that day he came tied for 28th at -8.

Hend is a solid pick who could potentially lead the course at the end of day one.

Bet: You can bet on Scott Hend at .

Winner #3: Jake Higginbottom

The Aussie is a risky bet at 100/1 – but the reason we are betting him is based on that risk.

See – Higginbottom ended last year with some nice finishes. At the Maybank Malaysian Open he slipped below the radar due to a really bad last day where he shot a 76. He could have had a much bigger cash and a nice top 10 finish with ease if not for that day.

The risk is that with that form he’s ready to go on a downswing and that’s very possible honestly. However we will roll the dice and hope that it was just an erratic day(considering he shot a 67 the previous day) nad he can regain his form for this tournament.

Bet: Higginbottom at 100/1 at .

TRUE THAILAND CLASSIC 2015 RESULTS & ANALYSIS:

Oh Scott Hend – what the hell happened to you?

Not that I’m complaining. He came 2nd, which was good for a couple unit profit. Unfortunately he had a very poor final round as he shot par, and cost us it after 3 epic rounds. It was those 2 dropped shots on the back 9 – it killed him.

Here’s the return:

It was a nice profit but yeah – could have been a LOT freaking better. However we’re still proud of ourselves – we were very hesitant about this course, and it was very nice to come so close to teh massive win, and still get a good payout..
