We decided to skip the Champions Tour last week. We ran the math and after the month long break they had we just weren’t too confident. WIth it being a new course too there was nothing to compare it to for previous years, and while we know we can look at similar courses – nothing really stood out.
Last week was quite interesting to see. Marco Dawson took down the Tucson Conquistadores Classic with 3 solid days.
This week the Champions Tour has the Mississippi Gulf Resort Classic. This event has been part of the Champions Tour since 2010. David Eger won the first one, followed by Tom Lehman, Fred Couples, Michael Allen, and then last year Jeff Maggert won the event.
It takes place in Mississippi of course, in Biloxi to be exact. The course it takes place at is the Fallen Oak.

- Bart Bryant: 18/1
- Kenny Perry: 18/1
- Woody Austin: 20/1
- Jeff Maggert: 22/1
And on with the betting tips:
Betting Tip #1: Jeff Maggert
We are going to bet on Jeff Maggert being the first repeat winner of the Mississippi Gulf Resort Classic. It’s not a sure thing by any means – but Maggert really impressed last year.
He’s also coming into this one on form. In February he came 10th – tied – in the ACE Group Classic. That’s great, but then after the month long break he came tied for 9th at the Tucson. That’s a good sign his form is still there. He had 3 solid if unspectacular days and that’s what is necessary here.
We will go with Maggert for the Top 5 finish, betting each way as always.
That’s all we have for you this week for the Mississippi Gulf Resort Classic. We looked at a few other ones but there was just no players that stuck out. So let’s go with Jeff Maggert for the repeat.
MISSISSIPPI GULF RESORT CLASSIC RESULTS & ANALYSIS:
We had quite the week with huge success in the LPGA, mild success in the European Tour and very close to big success in the PGA. Unfortunately – nothing in the Champions Tour this week.
Jeff Maggert was our only tip and he did a 73-70-70. Still respectable and he came tied for 14th but he was way off a cash as he would need -7 for the top 5.
