This week, the European Tour heads to Mauritus for the AfrAsia Bank Mauritus Open.
This event is the first time it has been part of the European Tour, and will take place at the Heritage Golf Club.
This is a very, very special event as it is a tri-sanctioned event. It’s featuring the Asian Tour, The European Tour, and the Sunshine Tour. Each of the three tours will have 40 players in the field, for a total of 120 players.
The course itself has 7036 yards to it, and will be a par 71.
It’s going to be an interesting tournament. Placing it at the same time as the Players Championship is a genius idea – most people will be playing in that from the European Tour for example – but now you have this rather prestigious event.
As we don’t have much data as we normally would when it comes to the golfers as well as the course itself, we’re going to recommend doing just quarter unit bets on these ones.

AfrAsia Open Betting Tip #1: Dean Burmester
The first one that stands out is the 28/1 Dean Burmester.
Burmester is coming into this one on the back of some hot form. He had a great result at the co-sanctioned event in early March – the Tswane Open. He came tied for 3rd, and the South African showed he can hang with the big boys.
Burmester is young, and has been dominating the Sunshine Tour with a lot of great results. That’s one thing that has been very impressive about him – his consitency. He won the Golden Pisener Zimbabwe Open in early April, and has a lot of good results to his name. he struggled a bit in the Investec Cup, but for pure tournament play he is very on form.
We’ll go with a quarter unit bet on him.
That’s all for the betting tips for the AfrAsia Open. We’ve looked at other potential golfers but none are standing out to us – and anything else would be just forced we think.
Enjoy the golf!
