We’re one week on from the Players Championship and what a thrilling event that was.
It went down to a playoff between Rickie Fowler, Sergio Garcia and Kevin Kisner. The 33/1 Sergio Garcia emerged victorious. For those wondering – Rickie Fowler was 60/1 and Kevin Kisner was a whopping 200/1. He’s a great reason as to why you bet E/W – imagine betting him to win and seeing him lose in the playoff?
That’s why it’s smart to take what is essentially an insurance bet.
Unfortunately we had no luck with the tips last week. Our one serious tip was Rory McIlroy. Rory played some solid golf but ended up tied for 8th, 4 strokes off the lead. You really need that special round but he couldn’t crack 68 all weekend.
This week it’s the Wells Fargo Championship, which always gets a lot of the top stars here performing. It’s been known as that for 4 years – formerly the Quail Hollow Championship and the Wachovia Championship. Last years winner was J.B. Holmes and the previous 3 years it has come to a playoff.
Should be a good field and a tight one. So many playoffs as even back in the early 2000s there was a lot of playoffs too with 3 in a row. Let’s get to the betting tips:

Gotta love the odds – McIlroy has completely tilted them in our favour. I love golf! It literally makes any bet you make +EV. But let’s see if we can try and get some winners:
Wells Fargo Championship Betting Tip #1: Phil Mickelson
We’ll be betting Phil Mickelson.
Mickelson has a tremendous history at this course. he hasn’t missed it since 2004. In that time he has managed to get 7 Top 10 finishes, and 5 Top 5 finishes. That’s a sick record.
He’s been very selective for obvious reasons in what tournaments he plays in, but we’ve already seen that he can still “bring it”. He was highly disappointing last time out, but on a course that he is very familiar with – this is a great time for him to come out and prove to people that he does still have it.
We’ll be taking Mickelson E/W.
Wells Fargo Championship Betting Tip #2 Bo Van Pelt:
Bo Van Pelt is worth a 1/5 bet.
He’s been poor in most of the tournaments he has played this season. However he did come 30th last week which is not the easiest thing to do – and he had a top 10 finish a month ago as he came 9th.
He’s got a pretty decent record on this course with a 6, 5 and 6.
Like we say – we’re talking a fifth of what you usually bet. A very miniscule bet on Van Pelt – but at 125/1 we feel he has value.
Wells Fargo Championship Betting Tip #3: Sean O’Hair
A former winner at this tournament, O’Hair is 55/1 which we think is worth a half unit bet as it has slight value.
He’s not had the worst form this year. In the tournaments he has played in he has had a couple of solid results like a 2nd place and a 6th place looking back.
Again it’s very small value – so half unit bet at most.
