This week on the PGA Tour, it’s the Shriners Hospital Tournament.
This is the 2nd tournament to kickstart the PGA 2015/2016 season. Last week saw the 50/1 Emiliano Grillo win the first event – the Frys.com Open.
It was a thrilling event to start the season with Kevin Na losing his lead on the last round, and having to go to a playoff. Momentum was on Grillos side and he got the big win.
So now the Shriners Open.
Shriners Open 2015 Betting Odds:
- Rickie Fowler: 9/1
- Brooks Koepka: 18/1
- Kevin Na: 22/1
- Emiliano Grillo: 25/1
- Brandt Snedeker: 25/1
- Jimmy Walker: 25/1
- Ryan Moore: 25/1
- Scott Piercy: 30/1
- Tony Finau: 30/1
- Charley Hoffman: 35/1
Shriners Open Betting Tip #1: Ryan Moore
We actually got burned on Ryan Moore last year at this very same tournament. We took Moore as our one and only bet and he didn’t even manage to make the cut which was very disappointing. He went into last years tournament in solid form and also had great course history.
We’re going to go again for Moore but due to last year we’re going to be playing it a little bit safer and only bet half a unit on Moore.
He had a great start to the season with a 10th placed finish at the Frys.com Open. We’re hoping he can follow that up and get an even higher finish this time around.
Shriners Open Betting Tip #2: Emiliano Grillo
Even though he’s never played on this course, Emiliano Grillo has to be worth a quarter unit bet at his current 25/1 betting odds.
The man is on fire. Not only did he win the Frys.com Open but prior to that he won the Web.com Tour Championshp on October 4th in what was an incredible result for him. While he’s probably not of the calibre of some of these players – sometimes we have to bet a golfer when he is hot – and Grillo is without a doubt hot.
Back to back isn’t easy to do and if we factor in the Web.com result then it would be mind blowing if he did something here. We can’t see it but our system does feel like we’re justified in betting Grillo for a quarter unit.
Shriners Open 2015 Betting Tip #3: Jason Bohn
Jason Bohn is a decent price of 40/1.
He’s had some excellent course form here. 8th in 2012, 2nd in 2013 and 18th in 2014.
He’s also coming into this on the back of a 3rd place finish at the Frys.com Open where he looked really darn good to be fair. Momentum is on his side and he is a solid golfer who we have to back here. We’ll do a half unit bet on Jason Bohn.
