This week, the Champions Tour has the Charles Schwab Cup Championship.
We called it with Fred Couples last week for a profit, proclaiming he would be in the top 5. Here’s the betting slip:
Unfortunately tied for 5th meant we only got half the profits. Bloody annoying.
This is the final tournament in the Champions Tour for this season. Last year, it was a thrille ending with Tom Pernice Jr. the winner of it following a playoff with Jay Haas. Tom Pernice Jr. is participating this year but is 33/1 and not expected to be a contender.
A lot of the focus is on Montgomerie, Langer and Maggert. Montgomerie is leading the pack, but Maggert is close behind him and Langer is also there or thereabouts. This should be a really fun tournament to watch.
This tournament takes place at the Desert Mountain Cochise Course. It’s taken place twice before here – in 2012 and 2014.
As mentioned, in 2014 Pernice Jr. was the winner at -11. Langer came in -9 tied for 4th with Monty, who was also -9.
In 2012 Tom Lehman took it down. He racked up a sick -22 in that one.

Charles Schwab Championship Betting Tip #1: Kenny Perry
Only 5/1 and we’ll risk half a unit on Mr. Perry to win.
Perry is going into this without pressure. However this is a course he has played on twice and he looked solid here last season.
Perry is also coming into this on some top form. he won the 3M Championship a few weeks ago and has 3 top 5 finishes to his name in recent weeks – at the SAS Championship, San Antonio Championship and finally the Toshiba Classic.
Perry is one of the most on form golfers going in here and the real key is consistency.
He’s not a home run by any means but his solid form makes him worth a bet to win this tournament. Half a unit only though.
