The final two group games of Group B in the World Cup take place on Monday, June 25th. Spain take on Morocco and Portugal go up against Iran.
Morocco are already eliminated and Portugal are currently joint top of the group with Spain. All Spain need to do is draw or win their game to go through.
Portugal can win or draw this one (or lose but have Spain lose by more) but for all intents and purposes we’ll assume they’re going in to win or draw this one.
Iran are in a similar boat however for them to draw and go through, Spain would have to lose and probably by 2 although that’s dependent on fair play points. Have to assume Iran will be looking for the win as they are -5 for the fair play points right now and Portugal are -2 and Spain just -1.
Portugal are the definition of a one man team with Ronaldo scoring all 4 goals for them so far. They had a 3-3 draw with Spain thanks to miracles by Ronaldo, and then beat Morocco 1-0 rather undeservedly thanks to Ronaldo magic and some poor Moroccan finishing.
Iran have been solid enough. They withheld a lot of Moroccan pressure only to steal the win at the end and they were similar at holding off Spain. Interestingly after Spain scored I felt we saw the best football from Iran and wish they had played more positively to begin with.

Portugal Analysis:
If it wasn’t for Ronaldo I’d rate Portugal as one of the worst teams in the World Cup. It’s almost like the rest of the players like Andre Silva actually get WORSE with Ronaldo in the team. It’s bizarre to see.
Yet Ronaldo is Ronaldo. The diamond in the rough. He’s clearly looking like the player of the tournament thus far.
It’s tough to say how things will go as we’ve got to expect a defensive performance from Iran and Portugal may also play fairly defensive. We barely saw that against Morocco though as the Portugal goal changed things quickly and Morocco took over.
However Portugal need the rest of the team to step up. It’ll be interesting to see if Portugal play for the draw as Morocco had numerous chances against them and their defense etc is not the best.
Iran Analysis:
Two defensive performances yet when they play more positively they look better. They really want to win this one so I’d have to hope they play positively.
However while they held off Morocco and did a solid job against Spain – they’re going up against CR7 and that could spell disaster.
It’s going to be interesting to see how things go with them – I’d expect they start off defensively and slowly adjust but it may be similar to the Portugal-Morocco game where a goal has to change things.
Portugal vs Iran Betting Tips:
Very conflicted. Other than Ronaldo I don’t rate Portugal at all but Ronaldo is able to do everything by himself. Iran I’d like to see them attack but not sure they will. I think the holes are there for sure.
