France vs Belgium Betting Tips

The semi finals of the World Cup are here, and kick off on Tuesday, July 10th with France versus Belgium.

The winners of this one will face off against the winners of England vs Croatia.

I’m sure we all know the story by now but just to recap – France won Group C with a 2-1-0 record. It wasn’t easy for them as they struggled to beat Australia 2-1, then it was a tight one over Peru 1-0 before the dull draw with Denmark.

They had a 7 goal thriller against Argentina in a concerning defensive performance, but it was back to business as usual in the quarter finals with a solid and excellent 2-0 victory over Uruguay. Of course Cavani was out there and that game still could have went either way with France getting the lucky bounces.

Belgium have been the most fun team of the World Cup. They won all 3 games in the group stages thumping Panama 3-0, Tunisia 5-2 then went for the road of death with a 1-0 victory over England. They survived a scare against Japan to go through 3-2 and that confidence helped them overcome Brazil 2-1.

This has the potential to be a great clash. These were two teams that on paper before the World Cup had the ability to go all the way. Now one of them will. Which one is it?

France Analysis:

There are certainly things I like about France but there are also issues too. In the group stages I admired their ability to keep the pressure off the back four. However then the Argentina game happened and they let in 3.

I enjoyed Mbappes performance in that game but a lot of that was due to Argentinas tactics.

I wasn’t impressed with them versus Uruguay. France didn’t look creative at all and it was set pieces and some lucky bounces that helped them – and this is with Uruguay missing Cavani. I mean if you look at things like xg ratings etc Uruguay were the better team and deserved to win.

I’m just not convinced. France are a team that looked great on paper but it’s not all clicking.

Belgium Analysis:

On the other hand – Belgium are a team who are functioning brilliantly and growing so well together.

I loved them sticking with Fellaini for example and he was excellent against Brazil. Tactic wise Martinez was brilliant and Brazil had no idea how to handle the system.

Funnily enough – similar to expected goals in the France one, Brazil should have won 2.45-0.5 due to the opening more than anything else. They should have scored early on and then who knows what would have happened.

Yet I think it felt different. Belgium knew what to do and they did it well. Martinez took a risk and he had Lukaku to help the team out with this tactic. Hazard and De Bruyne are incredible and despite the xg rating I felt Belgium well deserved the win.
