The Women’s World Cup gets underway today and I am looking forward to it. It’ll be really good studying it, getting to know all the teams etc and I’m looking forward to betting tips from the 2nd round of game onwards – as I’ll have a stronger level of confidence then.
I forgot to mention that along with the Women’s World Cup to keep us busy, we also have the 2019 Copa America.
That kicks off next Friday with the hosts Brazil taking on Bolivia.
I’ll have schedules in the usual timezone formats up for that this weekend. That goes until July 7th so that and the Women’s World Cup should keep us busy. I’m looking forward to it as obviously I know a lot more about the nations and the players there.
For now let’s focus on Sundays Women’s World Cup games. Early kickoff here at 7am EST with Australia vs Italy. That’s followed by Brazil vs Jamaica then the big one, England vs Scotland. Can’t wait.
Australia vs Italy Betting Tips:
Australia lost in the final of the AFC Women’s Asian Cup which led to their qualification for this tournament. They lost 1-0 to Japan there. It was a tight group stage for them as they thrashed Vietnam but drew with South Korea and Japan. They struggled to beat Thailand on penalties thanks to a 91st minute goal to tie it up, before losing to Japan.
Italy qualified from Group 6 with 7 wins in 8 games. Their only loss was a 2-1 loss to Belgium. It was generally convincing and controlling victories all the way through. However they are underdogs in this one as Australia are 1.57 to win. 3.80 is the draw odds, 6.00 on Italy to win.
Australia come into this one after firing their coach Alen Stajcic under interesting circumstances. Here’s an interesting story on that. Australia have one player who you will know by the end of the tournament if you don’t now – their captain Sam Kerr. She is a very lethal player and I expect her to have her best tournament.
Italy are back in the World Cup for the first time since 1999. They are a solid team and honestly the pressure is probably off – they just wanted to qualify and anything else is a bonus.
I have a sneaky suspicion people are underestimating Italy. They looked good in the group matches, seem to have some solid defensive chemistry, and this will be a good test for them. With tournaments like this, I like to look to bet against teams that the public will be on. With Sam Kerr, a lot of people will be betting the Aussies so I’m fine with a small bet on the other side.

Brazil vs Jamaica Betting Tips:
Brazil are the favourites to win this group and are the overwhelming favourites to win here at just 1.083 odds ha.
Brazil were the 2018 Copa America Femenina Champions. They cleared their group with 4 wins out of 4, 22 goals scored and just 1 conceded (although it was a tight game against Argentina). In the final stage they won all three of their games in dominant fashion.
Jamaica earned their spot here with third place in the Concacaf Women’s Championship. They made it out of their group despite losing to Canada, but got soundly thumped by the USA before beating Panama on penalties.
The Brazil women are much like the men on the international stage – extremely talented yet just underachieve each time. Jamaica don’t have a chance here really although they do have a solid player in Khadija Shaw.
Betting wise, it’s hard to find a bet and I am flip flopping between Brazil to win to nil, and both teams to score. I’ll go with the Brazilians starting strong and not getting complacent.

England vs Scotland Betting Tips:
The big game! England are strong favourites at 1.22 odds although the Scottish women aren’t too shabby. England qualified on extremely dominant fashion with 7 wins and a draw, 29 goals scored and just 1 conceded against Russia.
Scotland won Group 2 with 7 wins and 1 loss.
Scotland actually surprised a lot of people when it comes to qualification and how they did it. They’ve got some solid players in Jane Ross and Kim Little.
I think Scotland are competitive here. Despite Englands defense, I’ve watched enough of Scotland to think they can get something going. Being Scottish, I might be a bit biased but I think they’ll get a goal.
