The 2019 Women’s World Cup kicked off with a dominant 4-0 victory by the hosts France. It’s half time in the Germany vs China game as I write this and wow have Germany ever lost the plot. They look like they expected to be up 1-0 or 2-0 at this point and protecting the lead. Unable to score they’re just clueless right now.
Back to yesterdays game – France started early and were up 3-0 by half time..
We had a small play on the Under 2.5 in that one but France were a bloodthirsty team and just kept coming. Really in open play South Korea didn’t do too bad – the 2nd and 3rd goals were off set pieces where South Korea just went to sleep.
Great performance by Wendie Renard but I also thought Eugenie Le Sommer was quality. Jang Sel-gi on South Korea impressed me with some key defensive tackles.
What a great 4th goal by Amandine Henry though.

For Monday, June 10th we’ve got just two games. Argentina vs Japan in Group D and Canada vs Cameroon in Group E. Living in Canada I’ll of course be cheering on the Canadian team.
Argentina vs Japan Betting Tips:
Japan are heavy favourites in this one at 1.12 odds.
Japan qualified as AFC Women’s Asian Cup champions. They struggled in their group to be honest with 1 win and 2 draws. They drew with South Korea and Australia. In the knockout stages they got a solid win over China and then beat Australia 1-0 in the finals.
Argentina were the CONCAFAC-CONMEBOL Play-off winners to get here after beating Panama 5-1 on aggregrate. They got there by coming third in the 2018 Copa America Femenina. They did pretty solid in the group stages there with 3 wins in 4 games, but in the final stage after beating Colombia, lost their last two games.
Argentina getting here is quite the achievement considering they had no coaching stuff or had played an international match for 2 years when the players went on strike.
While Japan didn’t blow anyone away in qualfication they looked solid in the SheBelieves Cup. They are ranked 7th.
There really isn’t too many good betting opportunities here. Japan are expected to win and win strongly however I’m not confident betting them -2 at this point. We’ll go with a small bet for entertainment.

Canada vs Cameroon Betting Tips:
Canada are heavy favourites here at 1.16 odds.
Canada were the 2018 CONCACAF Women’s Championship runners up. They won their group with absolute ease, then thumped Panama in the next round before that disappointing loss to the United States.
Cameroon are here after finishing 3rd in the Africa Cup of Nations. Pretty solid in the group stage, lost to penalties against Nigeria then had a thrilling 4-2 win over Mali.
Canada is an excellent team with some great goalscoring abilities. They’ve also got the legend Christine Sinclair whose 36th birthday is coming up. She can still go though. Cameroon are a tough team to call due to very few games since the qualification phase, and also a coaching change.
Have to think Canada take this one. Of course the odds are tricky. I’m going to take the over.
