We end the regular season of football on a high note – I backed Newport to beat Forest Green last week and Blackpool to qualify and both came in.
I’m now going to go full steam ahead with Euro 2020 / 2021 analysis. I know most people call it “Euro 2020” but it just feels so weird doing so. I’m going to end up listing it as both just to keep the OCD demon in me at bay.
I’m going to start off with previews and betting tips for all of the Groups. We’ll have a post per day covering each group.
After that I will get into my favourite betting tips – Top Team Goalscorer. Love that one and I’ve made a few great picks on that in the past.
Euro 2020 / 2021 Group A Betting Tips / Predictions:
Here are the odds to win Group A:
Italy: 1.57
Switzerland: 5.50
Turkey: 5.50
Wales: 8.00
Italy are the favourites and that is no surprise. They have an unbeaten run of over 20 matches, qualified with a 100% record and just look phenomenal. If they can figure out the right striker set up they should walk this group.
Turkey had a very tricky group but did a great job in coming 2nd. Their June 8th 2-0 win over France was phenomenal. Their defense is generally great although Soyuncu not getting a ton of games at Leicester hurt. Their World Cup qualification is looking good.
Switzerland won Group D although it wasn’t in super convincing fashion. They looked to mostly be on the same level as Denmark and Eire. It does help that they have a lot of experience.
Wales are going to have to be darn lucky really. You can never count them out with one Gareth Bale. I feel like the best they can hope for is draws.
Summary: The battle for 2nd place will likely come down to the last game with Switzerland vs Turkey. That should be a cracker.
I am going with a Group Forecast Bet of Italy to win the group, Switzerland 2nd. I feel if Switzerland can beat Wales in the opener, they will have the psychological edge over Turkey. They also have the experience for that crucial game against Turkey which will help them.
I’m also going to do a bet on Wales NOT to qualify. I think the Top 3 for this one is all set and they will struggle. Even if they do make third it’s certainly not guaranteed.
