Nothing last week in the golf, unfortunately. Puts us at just a bawhair over +4u for the year. Not ideal.

I took a couple of weeks off prior to that to just kind of reassess. It’s not really the units I am that concerned about. 2020 was a losing year for example by 12 units. But there was a ton of bad variance there. There was a long stretch where I was getting the E/W cashes but not the winners. So I was still feeling happy about my picks and system.

This year – not so much. I had made some changes that I hoped were for the better during the Christmas break, and my system seemed a lot more on par with sportsbook lines (which allows for me to find value) but I’m not happy with a lot of the results. I won’t go on about it in detail here but basically I’m going back to a more “less is more” approach that has served me well, and brought in 633 units of profit since 2014. I’ll run that the rest of the year, and see how things go.

This week, we’ve got the Sanderson Farms Championship. Skipping the links. Going with 4 bets all equaling 1u until I see how things go with my changes.

$31.50 on Sahith Theegala E/W @ 20/1

An 8th place last here, and has had a great rookie year. He was just 6th a couple of weeks ago, and looked excellent there and with a bit more experience, may have won it. I like him to be competitive here, and attack this course with confidence

Other than missing the cut at Fortinet, he has been playing some exceptional golf going and I’m hoping two weeks ago was just a blip. His driving power should help here on a course that he took 4th on last year, and is high up there in Tee to Green which is important for this course.

$31.50 on Byeong-Hun An E/W @ 55/1

Another one whose odds dropped ugh – saw him at 75/1 on Monday. I guess on the bright side it must mean other handicappers are betting or tipping them which has to be a good sign right? Anyway he returned to the PGA tour with a bang at Fortinet. My system has him ranked high for this course. He came 3rd here two years ago.

$31.50 on Will Gordon E/W @ 75/1

A course he is familiar with although he hasn’t had any great performances here. A 53rd place and a missed cut. But he’s back on the PGA tour, playing good golf before that on the Korn Ferry, and he ranked Top 10 at Fortinet for both driving accuracy and off the tee. He was really banging it on the final day as well and his SG Tee to Green was nice and high which could help here.
