Last night was a night of amazing comebacks that ultimately led to losses. The Chicago Blackhawks managed to erase a 3-0 deficit and force overtime against the Anaheim Ducks, but it was ultimately for not as the Ducks were able to score the final game 45 seconds into the period. The series is now 3-2 and heading back to Chicago. I said last week that this one will go seven and that feels even more likely after last night’s craziness. The other big comeback took place in the NBA where the Rockets jumped out to a 23-point first quarter lead only to see the Warriors cut it to six in the fourth quarter. James Harden’s huge 45 point game helped them hang on and send this series back to Oakland.
While it seems like the Atlanta Hawks have simply too many injuries to hold on tonight, you just never know what can happen in the NBA. The same can be said for the New York Rangers and Tampa Bay Lightning series that has had a three 6+ goal scoring games sandwiched between some close, low scoring ones. Perhaps more interesting in that series than who will win is what type of game it will be.
There is a lot of action to get to for tonight so let’s dig in to the picks.
NHL Playoffs:
The same two goalies have started every game of this series, but the results read wildly different. Ben Bishop had a shutout in game 5, but gave up five goals in both games three and four. Henrik Lundqvist has given up six goals oer game in two games and one goal per game in two games. It makes no sense. This is a potential clinching game for the Lightning and if Bishop can play like he did in game 5 I see them going to the Stanley Cup finals. While the Rangers will do their best to control the pace and play their game, which in these playoffs has been a 2-1 game. Bet under 5 goals.
MLB Betting Tips:
One of the season, the Athletics are just 2-9 against left-handed starters and despite not quite living up to his reputation, David Price is still one of the better left handers in all of baseball. Throw in the friendly pitching environment in Oakland and I don’t like the A’s chances. Detroit -115 is a fair price.
Speaking of unfair match-ups, the Mets and Jacob deGrom take on the Phillies tonight. The Mets are a HUGE -190 favorite in this one as DeGrom has been on fire lately. deGrom’s only allowed 1 earned run over his last two starts and now gets the anemic Phillies. We’re taking under 7.5 runs in this one and hoping the Phillies don’t give up 7.
NBA Playoffs Betting Tips:
What can we possibly say about Lebron James that hasn’t already been said? He’s the man and the greatest player of a generation. He’s going to finish out the Hawks tonight and head to his fifth straight NBA Finals, the first to do so since Bill Russell. I have complete faith in him to do so and then get killed by the Warriors. The West is just better. Tonight? Cavs +7.5 is the play.
