Close but no cigar last week at the Corales Championship. All just 1/8u bets anyway, but we were looking good with Ben Martin, who shot a killer 66 in the first day.
Unfortunately he couldn’t quite match that again and after a poor 2nd round, couldn’t make up the ground. He came tied for 8th, but 3 strokes out of the 5th place for the E/W cash.
Zanotti had a brutal first day which is a shame because he performed well the rest of the weekend and came 29th. Percy struggled the entire tournament.
This week, we have the Valero Texas Open. Tough course.
Valero Texas Open Betting Tips:
Units are $125. E/W Betting is Top 5.
1/4u on Chris Kirk To Win & E/W @ 28/1
Kirk had a great start to the year but has struggled a bit since his win at the Honda Classic in a playoff. However I think this is a great tournament for him to get back on track at, at a course where he has had a couple of top 10 finishes. His play style suits this course, and those winds could be good for him.
1/4u on Ryan Fox To Win & E/W @ 40/1
A nice price here for the golfer who has been playing exceptionally well lately, with a string of top 30 finishes, most in the top 20. His game looks like it will suit this course, and his SG metrics look great. In a very weak field, this could be the tournament for him.
1/8u on Aaron Rai To Win & E/W @ 40/1
Stands out enough in the metrics. Had a couple weeks off, played well here last year. Not an overwhelming pick or anything but with this field, I think he has a shot.
