July 2015 Sporting Event Calendar

Summer on the odd years is always a quiet time for sports. NHL and NBA are done with, there’s no World Cup or European Championships to hold us over – bring on the fall we say; or at least August, and the return of the soccer.

However if you’re a sports fan don’t worry – there’s still SOME sports out there for you to watch this month. We’re going to cover some of the major events, as well as mention recurring sporting events in our July 2015 sporting event calendar.

Let’s get to it:

Baseball:

The MLB regular season will continue throughout the month of July, and it will really help narrow down the season in regard to who is going to be making the playoffs. Playoffs of course will not begin until October 2015.

The MLB All Star game will take place on July 14th, 2015.

Basketball:

The NBA will have ended in June. There will be some minor leagues but the Euroleague will not have started yet. That doesn’t start until October usually.

Boxing:

There are no major boxing fights scheduled for July.

Cricket:

The ashes begin on July 8th, with England vs Australia First Test. The womens ashes also takes place around the 21st of the month.

Cycling:

The Tour De France will begin on July 4th, ending on July 26th. There are no other notable cycling events during the month of July.

Football:

The CFL season will begin at the end of June. July will see Week 2, Week 3, Week 4, Week 5 and the beginning of Week 6 throughout the month of July.

Golf:

The most notable event is The Open Championship in the PGA, beginning July 16th as Rory attempts to defend his title.

The PGA also has multiple other events though.

July 2nd: The Greenbrier Classic
July 9th: John Deer Classic
July 16th: Barbasol Championship
July 23rd: RBC Canadian Open
July 30th: Quicken Loans National

The European Tour has the following events:

July 2nd: Alstom Open de France
July 9th: Aberdeen Asset Management Scottish Open
July 23rd: Omega European Masters
July 30th: Madeira Islands Open & Saltire Energy Paul Lawrie Matchplay

The LPGA Tour also has a busy month, beginning and ending the month with two of the most prestigious events on the LPGA tour.

July 9th: US Womens Open
July 16th: Marathon Classic
July 23rd: Meijer LPGA Classic
July 30th: RICHO Women’s British Open

Finally the Champions Tour has:

July 10th: Encompass Championship
July 23rd: Senior Open Championship
July 31st: 3M Championship

Hockey:

Unfortunately nothing notable happening in hockey for the month of July. If you’re wondering about the CHL – Champions Hockey League – it begins in August.

Horse Racing:

The most notable race of the month is on July 25th, with the King George VI / Queen Elizabeth Stakes which is held at Ascot.

Mixed Martial Arts:

UFC kicks off the month on the 11th of July, with UFC 189: Aldo vs McGregor. It’s one of their most hyped PPVs ever.

July 12th has the TUF FInale currently headlined with Jake Ellenberger fighting Stephen Thomson. Other events in July are:

July 15th: UFC Fight Night Mir vs Duffee
July 18th: UFC Fight Night Bisping vs Leites
July 25th: UFC On Fox: Dillashaw vs Barao 2

And just a reminder that UFC 190, Rousey vs Correia, is August 1st.

Of course UFC isn’t the only game in town. Bellator 140, with Lima vs Koreshkov, takes place July 17th. WSOF has no events in July but will have WSOF 22 Palhares vs Shields on August 1st. Yep the same night as the Rousey fight.

Invicta 13, featuring Cyborg is taking place in July.

Motor Sports:

Formula 1 has the British Grand Prix on July 5thand the Hungarian Grand Prix on July 26th. The German Grand Prix was originally scheduled for July 19th but has been cancelled at this time after Hockenheim didn’t step up.

NASCAR has the following events:

July 5th: Daytona International Speedway
July 11th: Kentucky Speedway
July 19th: New Hampshire Motor Speedway
July 26th: Indianapolis Motor Speedway

Snooker:

No notable snooker events in the month of July.

Soccer:

We’ve got the final of the Copa America on July 4th.

Tennis:

Wimbledon, which begins on June 29th will take place through the first half of July, ending on JUly 12th.

Wrestling:

WWE offers up WWE Battleground on July 19.

Miscellaneous:

The Special Olympics World Games, taking place in Los Angeles, begins on July 25th.
