Where do we begin with the weekend’s action? Well, it makes sense to start with the LeBron Show – James guided the Cavs to a OT win over Golden State last night, in a match that, let’s be honest, could be crucial to this series. Many had written off the Cavs after Game 1, especially with fatigue looking to set in. But the one-man team turned it around and now head back to Cleveland with their heads held high. This isn’t going to be the one-sided series that many were predicting, that’s for sure.
Elsewhere, Stan Wawrinka beat Novak Djokovic in four sets to win the French Open, in what was a masterclass of power hitting, to deny the Serb his career Grand Slam. The fact is, the Swiss played at a level above Djokovic for most of the match and was a deserved winner. Was that Nole’s best chance to win the French Open? Possibly. With Nadal now looking to be a spent force, and Federer no real threat for Djokovic on clay, he might go on and win it next year, but Warwrinka is looming in the background with a game suited to the surface, while players like Nishikori and Raonic, once fit, are only going to get better. As for Andy Murray, he had a great chance to beat Djokovic, but capitulated in the final set in an embarrassing 6-1 scoreline.
Lewis Hamilton lead a procession around the Canadian Grand Prix. Danill Kyvat got in the points for us, and we were unbelievably unlucky for Pastor Maldonado finishing 7th. But there’s signs the Colombian is improving every race, which is always a good sign for us, as you know we love having a little wager on him, seeing as the bookies underrate him.
And in the Women’s World Cup, Norway eased to a win over Thailand, while Germany edged out Cote d’Ivoire 10-0 in a tight affair, with the Germans only managing to score two-hat-tricks.
Tonight, Game Three of the Stanley Cup Final takes place in Chicago, and we have our usual MLB selections. So let’s get onto our free sports betting tips for June 8th, 2015.
NHL Stanley Cup Final Game Three Betting Tip:
As has been the case with the playoffs, it’s been nip and tuck, with no team able to take advantage. Two games down, it’s 1-1, and although we still expect Chicago to take it down, Tampa Bay haven’t made it easy for them, with that win over the weekend unbelievably huge in the grand scheme of things. If the Lightning had lost the first game in Chicago, it would have been a long way back from 2-0 down. But we expect the Blackhawks to bounce back from that defeat, and edge it. Chicago Blackhawks to win in regulation is our play here. Once the Blackhawks offense starts firing, it’s going to be hard for the Lightning to stop them. So now it’s time for them to put up or shut up, because they don’t want to have to go to Florida trailing in the series. They should start fast and finish strong.
MLB Betting Tips:
The Pittsburgh Pirates know that they’re going to have to be swinging for the fences against the Brewers tonight. AJ Burnett struggled on his last two starts, but thanks to the Pirates’ bats, he got out of jail free. Fortunately, they’re facing Jimmy Nelson, another pitcher going through a hard patch at the moment. It’s a strange game in terms of winner, but both sides will be looking to take advantage of pitchers lacking real form. Take over 7.5 runs as the play here, as we should be in for a high-scoring game, and that fact it’s around +110 just makes it too good value to turn down.
