Tomorrow we have the Hungarian Grand Prix.
Not too many notes from practise, although man how hilarious was Checo in FP1? I love the guy but I was dying at that.
Qualifying was interesting. Lewis absolutely crushing it at the end there was fantastic. Although in his post race interview, it sounded more like he was just taking some big risks on a couple of those turns and hoping for the best.
Plus a loose theory I have is that it’s because they were on softs, and that it can’t hold up the entire race like that, and that that could benefit McLaren.
On the flip side, I could see him starting on softs tomorrow and things could be really interesting. I really hope so. I’m a big Max fan, and with the betting the mid field is always exciting to watch but I’d love some sort of contention at the top.
Quick disclaimer: the last few weeks were a mess for me F1 wise. I was able to catch the races but not any practise or qualifying. I’m also a bit out of the loop with a lot of it all. I’ve spent some time catching up today, but I’m not at my best. One of those things where I keep second guessing a lot of things.
I’m kicking myself too because for the Canadian GP I wrote about fastest pit stops and what the threshold was, and that McLaren were one of them. They ended up getting fastest pit stop last two races.
Anyway the threshold for them was 11.00 and sadly it’s 3.75 now so sorta missed the boat on that one.
Right let’s get to it – all at Bet365 for me. 1u is my main bet which I rarely do.
1/4u: Yuki Tsunoda to beat Daniel Ricciardo @ 2.20
I can see this is a popular one as it was 2.25 earlier today when I was going through and making notes.
I think it’s worth a shot. I don’t love it by any means, but it was a bet I wanted to do pre-qualifying and I’m happy where they both ended up. It’s been a long weekend for Ricciardo, and I think it will cause him to struggle a tad during the actual race.
I think Yuki was just unfortunate today. Sector 3 was a disaster and I think we’ll see better from him over the entire race tomorrow.
MAYBE – 1/4u on George Russell No Points Finish @ ???
Unfortunately as of this moment, Bet365 don’t have odds up for this.
They had them up earlier and I THINK it was 2.10 but I forgot to record it.
So anything above 2.00 if they show up, bet it.
Russell has struggled at times on this track over the years. He’s also not been super impressive this season at moving up the ranks, other than in Spain.
It’s also not the greatest track for passing, and like I said in the opening I do wonder how will Mercedes will be tyre wise in the longer race.
If something comes up I’ll try to post an edit that will be e-mailed to you, and it will be bolded at the top. I should note I’m out with the wife tonight at a concert and it’s our wedding anniversary tomorrow, so I may not be able to post the edit. However she is understanding in terms of my work and betting so I should be able to get 5 minutes to check the odds!

1/2u on Red Bull Leading After Lap 10 @ 2.25
Obviously this is Max He could get off to a good start and take pole, or like we saw at Silverstone when Norris took the lead on him – DRS can get him over.
I’m not concerned about the Red Bull ATM. We’ve seen historically they struggle with setup when limited, and due to the weather and how P1 went for Checo, that affected things for them.
Bet365 do have “Lead after Lap # and Win Race” at 2.50 but eh the 0.25 extra is not worth it at all there.
1/4u on Virtual Safety Car during race at 1.83
The virtual safety car has been a bit inconsistent this year compared to last years setup. There were some here last year, and I’m going to back that it comes in here just from watching some of the driving this weekend.
