Another crazy weekend of sport. I guess we should start off with the most important result of all – the USA destroyed Japan 5-2 in the Women’s World Cup Final, thanks in no small part to a 4 goal salvo in 15 minutes. Japan played great football, but that opening 15 minutes just destroyed any hope of it being a real contest. Lewis Hamilton won a very eventful British Grand Prix at Silverstone. He was 4/11 to win it going into the race, but if anyone had backed him at that price, they wouldn’t have been happy to see Felipe Massa pass him at the start of the race. Still, he duly obliged and made Formula One just a little bit more exciting again.
And in breaking news, Rory McIlroy has apparently ruptured a ligament in his ankle, with less than two weeks to go until the Open. Any ante-post backers of the Northern Irishman will be a little bit sick at this news. He’s not ruled himself out, but let’s be honest, the signs aren’t good with that kind of injury right before one of the biggest golf tournaments of the year.
Play is already underway at Wimbledon, so we’re not going to look at that. There is actually very little sport going on, much to our dismay, but we have our regular MLB picks. So let’s get right to the free sports betting tips for July 6th, 2015.
MLB Betting Tips:
Yes, it’s a bit of an obvious pick, but the Nationals to beat the Reds is the stand-out bet of the day. Their pitching rotation just isn’t leaking runs, and against a team that is struggling, that’s the main stat that matters. Of course, add in that they’re scoring well and the form that Bryce Harper is in, well, it’s a no-brainer here. Doug Fister goes well against the Reds, too, with a 2-0 record. While opposing him, Anthony DeSclafani is struggling – his last outing is one to be forgotten, giving up 6 in just over 6 innings against Minnesota.
Also, Astros to beat the Indians is the value play here. Both sides look evenly matched on paper, and for us, overall, the Astros are the better team when it comes down to it. Sure, it’s got the potential to be close, but you have to take the dog here, simply for value. We also like Dallas Keuchel – he’s nothing flash, but he gets the business done. He’s super hot after wins over the Yankees and the Royals, so he’s in solid form coming into tonight’s game. It should be a low-scoring affair, though, and under 7 runs is another nice, sensible value bet. We like Keuchel, as mentioned, but we also like Carrasco, who is pitching a hell of a lot better now than at the start of the season.
Finally, in another value bet, take Blue Jays to beat the White Sox. There’s nothing to pick between the two, for us, and Toronto being the dogs here just gives us that value that we need in what is surely going to be a pitching duel between two superstars. Another low-scoring, tight affair, so get on the value bet and look for the Blue Jays to nick it by a run or two.
