We’re smarting a little over the golf results this weekend. Sure, Tiger, in the end, had no chance, but golf can hinge on one round. Tiger’s third round 74 really didn’t help him going into the final day, but then Troy Merritt was not for catching after shooting a 61. Seriously, if you can shoot a 61 to get yourself into contention, you’re going to be tough to beat. And it’s the same with Inbee Park, whose 65 was the joint-lowest round of the entire tournament, and got her over the line. And to compound the fact, Roope Kakko shooting a 63 after a 64 the round previous to deny us an outright 35/1 win on Scott Henry is proof how tight golf can be. Kakko’s 63 was joint-lowest of the tournament and again came at the perfect time to get him over the line. In fact, he was tied his Henry going into the final round, and just pulled away. Still, our each-way tip on Scott Henry was good enough to get some profit from the European Tour at 35/1. Onwards we go into the golf season, and we’ll have our usual free golf betting tips on Wednesday, so remember to look out for them.
Coming out of the weekend, we have seen Arsenal draw first blood in England, beating Chelsea 1-0, giving Arsene Wenger a much needed win over Jose Mourinho. Does it matter for the coming season? Well, if you think it does, you can get 4/1 on Arsenal winning the English Premiership. If you think Mourinho will be victorious come May, you can get a much shorter price of 7/4 on Chelsea doing the business. In the MLB, the Mets are the hot team after sweeping the Nationals on Sunday. They’re now being talked about in the same breath as ‘postseason’ which must be nice for their voracious fans. Only time will tell, of course. And in horse racing, the superstar American Pharoah made a winning return to the track, in the Haskell Invitational. The Triple Crown winner is a true star of the sport, and it was great seeing him easy to such a comfortable win over Keen Ice. The Breeders’ Cup beckons for this legend in the making.
So let’s get onto the free sports betting tips for 3rd August, 2015.
MLB Betting Tips:
Astros at the Rangers is going to be a doozy tonight. It’s two sides that are hitting well, they’re both hot with the bat, so there should be balls flying all over the place. Colby Lewis will go well for the Rangers, but he’s up against Lance McCullers, who is really going to test the Rangers’ offense. The value here is definitely on Astros to win, as it’s not too short a price for a division leading side who know how to pile on the runs. Yes, it might be tight, but I still see some value here in what I thought would be a slightly shorted price.
And seeing as I mentioned the Mets earlier, it would be rude not to look at their trip to Miami. This isn’t a game that excites me, as both offenses have been struggling to rack up a lot of runs consistently, but then that is what gives us a good betting opportunity. Under 7.5 runs is definitely the play here, especially with it being played in Miami. Seriously, without Lucas Duda, you really would be wondering just where the Mets’ runs would be coming from. With the Marlins struggling to get a win, never mind runs, if you are looking for the winner of the game, it all points to the hot Mets, but I would advise you to stick with the runs, because if Duda draws a blank, the Mets could really struggle, too.
