What a great time to be a sports fan. Football, baseball playoffs, hockey and basketball is just getting started. These next few weeks are some of the best times to watch sports as your entire day can be filled with great games in different sports. Today is a special one as we have two baseball playoff games, a full slate of NHL, Thursday Night Football and two college games. We’ll do our best to cover it all and keep your bankroll in the black.
There is a ton to get to today so we’re just going to jump right into it.
MLB Playoff Betting Tips:
The Blue Jays host their first playoff game since the 1993 World Series today and the atmosphere should be absolutely insane. They send David Price to the mound against Yovani Gallardo and for that reason alone there should be plenty of reason for the Blue Jays fans to celebrate. The line on this one is -235 so we won’t be touching that one, but I do like the total on this one. Price has been great as a Blue Jay and should be properly motivated and rested for this one. Whether Gallardo pitches a gem or blows it, it’s unlikely that this one goes over eight runs. Under 8 runs is a strong play as this feels like a 5-1 game.
The other big game is the Astros taking on the Royals. Houston will send Colin McHugh to the mound who has been a bit shaky as of late with 4+ runs allowed in three of his past five starts. He goes against Yordano Ventura who has gotten better as the season went on. In August he posted a his lowest ERA to that point with a 3.41 and then topped it in September/October with a 3.14. As a whole his second half ERA was over a run lower than his first half. That being said, the Astros are hot right now and riding a wave of momentum. They should hit the ball well today and the Royals could easily do the same against the struggling McHugh. This one should see the bullpens early so we’re going over 7.5 runs on this one.
College Football Betting Tips:
Washington hasn’t had a great season, but they have been in every one of their games to the end and nearly upset Boise State on the road in the opening week. They go against their former coach and USC this week which should give them the motivation to hang tough again. Outside of their loss to Stanford, the Trojans have yet to be challenged this season and I think the Huskies defense is one that could give them trouble. The winner of this game is not in doubt, but Washington +16.5 should play tough and make this a ball game.
NFL Betting Tips:
Andrew Luck is listed as probable for this game and if he plays Colts +1 is my lock of the day. While the Colts have struggled early, they were starting to look like the team we thought they would be two weeks ago before Luck was injured. The Texans meanwhile have been a joke this season and are creating a strong case as to why you shouldn’t have your team on Hard Knocks. I’m confused by this line and could easily see the Colts running away with this one.
