This weekend saw the Milwaukee Bucks put an end to the Golden State Warriors historic streak to begin the season. They caught them hurt and coming off a double overtime game on a back-to-back, but they also played their best game of the season. Giannis Antetokounmpo posted a triple double, Greg Monroe had a monster game and Jabari Parker had this best game of the season. Is this a turning point for the Milwaukee Bucks season? They currently sit at 10-15 so a turning point is needed if they hope to have a shot at the playoffs. They get a nice soft match-up against the Los Angeles Lakers tonight in LA that should help their cause.
Another top game tonight is the Cleveland Cavaliers heading to Boston to face the Celtics. This is a rematch of last year’s first round playoff match-up that the Cavs won easily. This should be a good game though as the Celtics play hard every night and are the same team that gave the Warriors so much trouble in that double overtime game. The Cavs have been on a bit of cruise control as of late as it’s clear they now how good they are and are just saving themselves for the playoffs. It’s hard to say what Cavs team we’ll get tonight. They want to be sharp for this Thursday against the Thunder or that Christmas day game against the Warriors, either of which could be a preview of this year’s Finals.
NBA Betting Tips:
The Celtics are 5-2 over their past seven games with the only two losses coming against the Spurs and Warriors, both by five or less. They are 6-0-1 against the spread during this stretch and they look to continue that run tonight against the Cavaliers. Lebron James tweaked his quad in the Cavs’ last game and he’ll be playing tonight. Will he play at full blast though? Or will be be saving himself for Thursday’s national television showdown with Kevin Durant? The way this Cavs team has played as of late, I have to go with the latter. The Celtics +2 are tough at home and they just have more motivation to win this one.
The Sacramento Kings host the Houston Rockets tonight and they’ll be without their starting point guard Rajon Rondo thanks to some homophobic comments he made towards a referee. Rondo has been having a great season and they could have a tough time without him. The Rockets have been playing better as of late with a 5-2 record of their past seven. This is the type of game they need to be winning if they want to get back on track. I think they will tonight and Rockets +2 is a good play tonight.
I wouldn’t say I’m drinking the Bucks Kool-Aid so much as I am just down on the Lakers this season. They are just not a very good basketball team and their coaching doesn’t do them any favors. The Bucks -3 should roll tonight.
NHL Betting Tips:
The Oilers are red hot right now despite being without their young studs McDavid and Yakupov. They’ve won six straight, but run head on into the New York Rangers tonight. Last year’s Presidents Trophy winner has been struggling as of late, but they are still a very good team. These two teams played in Edmonton last week and had a crazy 7-5 game. That crazy game gives me a lot of confidence in tipping Over 5 Goals tonight. The Oilers are red hot right now and the Rangers have been giving up big goals as of late, but remain feisty. This should be a wild one.
