Well, it’s the first Monday of 2016 and we now know how the Superbowl picture looks. It still looks OK for the Patriots, even though they’ve lost home field advantage, while the Panthers, of course, kept their home field advantage. The Cardinals have peaked at the right time, and have a lot of teams worried about having to go through them to get that Superbowl win. And as for the Broncos, home field advantage is a complete and utter gift for them. Oh, and Dallas couldn’t close the season out with a win, so that was quite amusing. There’s always next season for Dallas, barring any injuries, of course!
What else happened over the weekend? Watford almost pulled off a huge upset, leading Manchester City until the final few minutes, when a great comeback say City win 2-1. Gary Anderson won the PDC World Championship for the second time in a row, cementing his status as one of the greats of the game. And the BDO World Championship started at the Lakeside, meaning we’ll have our second darts World Champion soon.
Now, let’s get onto the free sports betting tips for January 4th, 2016.
NBA Betting Tips:
Oklahoma City Thunder -11 is our first play of the day. Oklahoma isn’t a place that’s been good for Sacramento, and it doesn’t look like it’s going to chance tonight. The Thunder defense, after a slight slip, has tightened up again, and against a King team which can leak point with the best of them, they shouldn’t have too much trouble beating this line. They have beaten the Kings, on average, by 12.3 points in the history of this match-up, which also bodes well for our pick.
Toronto Raptors +8 is our second play of the day. The word is that Lebron James is not 100% fit, which is never a good sign for the Cavs. It’s not that Toronto are going great guns, but that loss to, essentially Jimmy Butler, not the Bulls was a good performance and highlighted how well they were going on the road. It looks like it should be a tight one here, and the eight points that the Raptors are getting is quite generous against a Cleveland side with a less than prime Lebron leading them.
BDO World Championship
We’ve missed the first session from the BDO darts, but we’ve got an evening session to get stuck into. Out of the three matches tonight, the one I want to look at is Ted Hankey vs Martin Phillips. Hankey looked in decent shape in his prelim match, and having that match already under his belt should be of great help to him. Martin Phillips isn’t having a bad year, he’s going OK, and you know what you’re going to get from the Welshman. However, there is a bit of value on The Count here, and we’ll be backing Ted Hankey to beat Martin Phillips, as The Count does have that extra gear, whereas Phillips should just plug away, grinding it out.
