Welcome to the Sports Betting Tips for Wednesday, January 6th, 2016.
Regular readers will know that Wednesday is the day where we do all the golf tips – covering the PGA, European, Champions Tours and the LPGA as well. Unfortunately all four have been on hiatus for a few weeks – but thankfully they are back this week.
We have the PGA Tour as well as the European Tour, and we have free golf betting tips for both tournaments.
Let’s dig right in to the betting tips for this weeks golf:
BMW SA Open Betting Tips:
The European Tour is back with the event co-sanctioned with the Sunshine Tour, the BMW SA Open.
It’s always a solid tournament although some of the odds are absolutely ridiculous. I mean Branden Grace at 4/1? Really? Dudes good but not that good.
We’ve only got the one betting tip for this one and you’re going to have to look in your betting market for 72 Hole Group Betting. What this does is it has the players in a group and then that player must win the group – aka beat all the other guys.
We’re going with Bet365s Group C, Trevor Fisher Jr. to win.
He’s had a very solid result lately at the Portugal Masters where he came in the top 5 – so that’s a nice sign that his form is still on track. And historically he’s played well on this course as well as similar courses. The BMW SA Open has been held at this course the last 2 years and he’s had two solid results here.
While we don’t think he will crack the top 5, we don’t see players like Brandon Stone or Jason Scrivener being able to compete with him, and feel his 3/1 price is a good one.
Hyundai Tournament of Champions:
the PGA Tour has the Hyundai Tournament of Champions this week and it’s always fun looking at some of the names and being like “Oh yeah – they won a tournament”. Like what? You forgot Smylie Kaufman and Troy Meritt were PGA winners???
We actually had a nice 5 unit win here last year – we tipped Hideki Matsuyama as the top Asian and although it was tight he beat Sang-Moon Bae by 2 strokes for a tied for 3rd finish and got us that win.
Last year almost all golfers finished under par – Kevin Stadler was the only one that didn’t as he withdrew after day 2 and was +1. I actually feel bad when someone is really out of their elements at this tournament. 2 years ago it was Derek Ernst who wracked up a +9 while Zach Johnson won with -19.
We’re going to take Brandt Snedeker and Patrick Reed – both for top 4 finishes. The former for a half unit at 11/1, the latter for a full unit at 9/4 odds.
Snedker won at Pebble Beach to get here – something we actually predicted and won for a nice price. Snedeker is someone you can usually count on in the big tournaments and that’s what we’re banking on here. We also have to go with Patrick Reed as well – his putting is in the top tier and this is a course where putting really counts.
