Spring training baseball is getting started all around the league and we’re just a month away from that sweet spot where we get to bet on baseball, basketball and hockey. That is, by far, my favorite time of the year for sports betting. The NBA and NHL playoffs are just on another level and the sheer number of baseball games every day means we are never bored. One could argue that we are already in that moment, but anyone who tells you to bet on a spring training baseball game is trying to steal your money. It’s not real baseball. Tonight in the NBA we get a match-up of last Saturday’s outstanding Oklahoma City Thunder and Golden State Warriors game. They’ve been on opposite paths since that game with the Warriors winning an emotional game against the Atlanta Hawks without Steph Curry that saw Draymond Green really show himself as a true superstar as he carried the team to the victory. Meanwhile, the Thunder are a mess after blowing a ten point halftime lead against the Clippers last night which led to Kevin Durant putting his team on blast after the game. Hopefully, OKC can rally and we get another amazing game tonight.
NBA Betting Tips:
The Kings meet Dallas at home tonight and you have to love the Mavericks tonight. Both Rajon Rondo and Rudy Gay are questionable for this one and this is Dallas’ sixth consecutive home game. Dallas is fighting for playoff positioning while the Kings think that they are. I think this one is a lay-up, Dallas -5.5.
In the prime time NBA on TNT game we have the New Orleans Pelicans at San Antonio Spurs. The Pelicans have gotten waxed in their two previous match-ups against the Spurs, losing by 13 and 14. To make matters worse, last night Pelicans’ coach Alvin Gentry officially threw in the towel for the season and said they are out of the playoffs race. Does that mean they experiment with younger players? No matter what, I don’t see this one ending well for New Orleans. The only thing they do well is score and they are facing the best defensive team in the league. Assuming there are no weird scratches, the Spurs -8 got this one. They’ve won six straight coming into this, tonight it becomes seven.
Tonight’s OKC/GSW game is a tough one. The Thunder looked lost in the second half last night and are playing their third road game in four nights, but if there is one game they are going to get up for it is this one. The Warriors are… the Warriors and they’ve been home all week. I think Golden State wins this one, but -8.5 is a lot of points to be laying against a team they could potentially meet in the Western Conference Finals. The best play here is Under 233 points. Saturday’s game would’ve gone under without the overtime and the other game they played earlier this season didn’t come close to 233. With a potentially tired and angry with each other Thunder team, this baby is definitely going under.
