It’s Wednesday which means it’s time for the golf tips.
What a thrilling tournament the WGC was. It came down to the wire and was incredibly close. It was also an interesting one because we had a bet on Bubba Watson Top 5. Usually I do To Win and E/W but this time I didn’t think he had what it took to win.
So that was a nerve-wracking one. Because while yes we would have got paid if he won or came 2nd, we would have missed out on a much bigger pay day if he had won. So I went from cheering him to hoping he would come 2nd.
Thankfully that worked out. Here’s the payout for that:
We don’t have anything for the Valspar Championship this week. We’d rather wait and see how things go.
We are covering the European Tour although it’s tricky this week:
True Thailand Classic Betting:
We’re doing 3 small bets this week – a quarter unit or a half unit. Whatever you feel like. All of them are to win, and bet each-way as well so we can cash if they hang out at the top.
They’re Prayad Marksaeng, Scott Hend and Joost Luiten.
Good luck.
NHL Picks for March 9th:
Leafs vs Islanders: Halak is out for the Islanders and that’s a crushing blow for them considering his latest performances. However the Islanders are a much, much better team than the Leafs. Islanders aren’t too great on the road – they’re around the middle of the pack for goals scored and goals conceded but they should be able to dispose of this Leafs team. Missing Halak might even help them all band together more. Islanders in regulation.
Blues vs Blackhawks: A good battle between the best power play team and one of the best penalty killing teams. Blackhawks offense has looked very good following the deadline and a lot fresher. Of course the power play situation going against the Blues PK makes it a bit iffy. Blues however have struggled in the past against the Blackhawks and I’m going to go with the underdog Chicago Blackhawks for the win here.
Flames vs Predators: Calgary have been showing some signs of life lately, but if the Nashville Predators continue to play the way they are, the Flames shouldn’t have any problem with them. I’m a bit concerned to be honest about the Preds playing one night after Winnipeg. These are always tough games. However the sportsbooks lines are favourable in that they also think Flames stand a chance. With the way the Preds are playing I’m going to go for what I feel is some nice value on Predators in regulation.
Avalanche vs Ducks: The Ducks offense can run hot and cold. Some games they’ll win it tightly and other games they’ll come firing on all cylinders. The line here is 5.5 and unfortunately I think that makes it not a play. The odds on the Ducks aren’t too great considering Avs beat them twice lately. Ducks have been incredible on the road but Avs can surprise everyone, and at 2.40 odds I feel the odds are just there for an Avs upset.
Canucks vs Coyotes: It’s extremely hard to back the Canucks at the moment although to their credit even when they lose they manage to look solid. They beat Arizona a few weeks ago on the road 2-1. Coyotes have looked a mess and even after pumping Florida 5-1 they went right back to their losing ways. The Coyotes struggles on the road – they haven’t won in regulation since January 7th, makes this a Canucks win. Although we should note Coyotes DID beat Vancouver IN Vancouver on January 4th.
Kings vs Capitals: The Washington offense has really went quiet lately. Even in the games they’re winning 3-2 there doesn’t seem to be that same spark. They’re going against a Kings team who at home have the 3rd best defense/goaltending in the league. Capitals do have Williams and Richards back tonight. However I’m going to take Under 5 Goals as I expect a tight one.
