Group B in the World Cup 2014 is quite the group. We have the #1 ranked national team in the world in Spain, the 2012 European Champions. We also have the Netherlands. With their current generation of players they’ve promised so much – yet didn’t deliver in 2012 getting eliminated by losing all three games in the group stages.
We also have Chile – Arturo Vidal looks to be fit and ready to play, and Australia.
Spain made it to the World Cup by winning a group with a tough opponent like France. They drew twice but remained unbeaten. The Netherlands won Group D in spectacular fashion, winning 9 out of the 10 games with the only slip-up being a 2-2 draw against Estonia. Chile qualified coming 3rd in the Conmebol Round Robin – interesting results there with them winning 9 and losing 6 with a lone draw against Colombia. Australia won just 3 out of 8 games in the AFC Fourth Round – sadly enough to qualify.
Quick Summary: Despite it being a tight group with 3 contenders, we have to go with Spain. 8/11 price is high value for them to win it. Next we’re going with the outsiders Chile at 5/6 odds to qualify.

The first thing we can do is rule Australia out of contention. There’s just an absolute lack of depth there in that squad – they have nothing to show for themselves. The odds of them finishing bottom of the group are 1/4. Sadly that probably has value in it, although I personally wouldn’t touch it.
I think quality wise, you have to go with Spain. They’ve consistently proved just why they are the best, and their players are always performing be it at a national level or domestic level. Their odds of 8/11 are quite fair. I just can’t see any of the teams competing with them and they will most likely win all 3 games.
2nd place is where it gets interesting. The Netherlands are the 2nd favourites but it is very very close.
I have to go with Chile.
If climate is going to be an issue, their players are going to do the business. They’re used to it. They also have some immense quality in their squad like Arturo Vidal and Alexis Sanchez.
Hollands first game is against Spain. I expect Spain to beat Holland, putting pressure on them to the point I can see them even making mistakes versus Australia. Chile could even get a draw against Spain depending on how things go.
The key game will be Chile vs Holland and I’m confident Chile will be the winners of that one. I’ve did the numbers, and I just can’t see past Chile for 2nd place here. Chile just love to play all out attack, and against a possession team like Holland I think it will unsettle the Dutch.
