Chile and Australia play each other on June 13th, 2014. This will be the 2nd game in Group B, with Spain vs Netherlands having finished a little bit earlier that day.
Australia are the expected whipping boys of the group, and Chile will want to do a number on them. Chile are the 3rd favourites in the group next to Spain and the Netherlands, and a loss against Australia would be a complete and utter disaster.
Australia really shouldn’t be much of a threat, barely qualifying from the AFC Fourth Round with just 3 wins in 8 games. Chile meanwhile came 3rd in the CONMEBOL – what is notable about their results however is they drew just once, winning 9 and losing 6.
If Australia got an early goal this could be a thrilling game, but unfortunately I just don’t see it. They aren’t very creative and aren’t the same squad that managed to draw with Ghana and Serbia in 2010.

Chile vs Australia Betting Tips:
In qualification, Chile scored 29 goals and conceded 25 goals in just 16 games. That would give you the thought that their defense is leaky. However the majority of the goals were against the bigger teams. When they played against teams on a level closer to Australias, they didn’t concede as much. They did concede however.
Over 2.5 goals has SLIGHT value. I can see this game ending 2-0 or 2-1 Chile, and based on that I’d say it’s a coinflip. As we’re getting slightly better than coinflip odds, it’s +EV to bet the Over 2.5 goals in this one.
Bet Over 2.5 goals .
As for who will win the game – well, Chile have it wrapped up there. The odds though just aren’t worth it at that price. Avoid betting on Chile to win. That however, is where betting props can come in handy.
Chile vs Australia Betting Props:
Like I said – I really like Chile in this game. It’s hard not to.
We’re getting a surprisingly good price of 6/5 odds on Chile-Chile, meaning Chile to be leading at half time and full time. Chile start a lot of games fast and over 60% of the goals they scored in the CONMEBOL were before half time.
If we’re going with Chile to win, which we are, then Chile-Chile is just an excellent price at 6/5 odds and one I’d be lumping on.
Even if Vidal is not 100% – they can still do the business. That may slow down their goalscoring though which is why I’m not going to do any more props on Chile for now. I want to see how they do in their first game, if Vidal is fit, and then just how fit he actually is.
Bet Chile-Chile, as in Chile to lead at the end of the first half and then win the game.
