June 2st, 2014 will see the second games in Group G kick off, with Germany taking on Ghana. The next day, USA will play Portugal.
The Germans are going into this one off the back of a big 4-0 win over Portugal. Portugal self-destructed in that game – it was already 2-0 to Germany however before Pepe was sent off, so the Germans were already well in control of the match. They looked very quick, efficient and strong both on attack and defense. They did a great job in nullifying Portugal and Cristiano Ronaldo – without resorting to 2 men on Ronaldo. It was a very, very solid performance by the Germans.
Ghana were very unlucky to lose against the USA. It was an interesting match though and it’s hard to fully judge the team based on it. USA got the early goal, and because of that were holding back for the majority of the game. This allowed Ghana to get an absolute ton of possession, lots of shots – yet they only had 1 goal to show for it and didn’t look that great considering all the time they had on the ball. USAs defense did well too though to be fair.

Honestly – all of the above odds are practically unbettable.
It’s hard to see beyond Germany at all for this game. I also can’t see Ghana scoring to be honest – they might squeeze one by, but the Germans are a lot better than the USA. Defensively, Ghana were exposed a good couple of times and Germany will take advantage of that. But 2/7 odds isn’t that appealing. If you want – bet it – but it’s the World Cup, crazy things happen, and personally I’m not a fan of betting something as high as 2/7.
Under 2.5 goals isn’t appealing either, despite the way the games have went. Germany are usually good for 3 goals in a game. If you’re sitting there thinking “unders” then I’ve got some bad news for you – every single one of Germanys qualification games went Over 2.5 goals. Every single one.
Over 2.5 goals isn’t bad at 8/15 to be honest. That’s the one I would be betting if I was just going for a straight bet. And if you have been paying attention to my betting challenge(see sidebar) I’m contemplating betting my entire balance on Over 2.5 goals at those odds, just to increase the bankroll by 50%.

Germany-Germany at 4/6 is a nice price, and one I would recommend. Germany looked lethal against Portugal and they will carry that into this game.
Germany -1 is a nice price at 8/11 odds. That means Germany will have to win by 2 goals or more – easy enough for them to do.
I couldn’t see the bet anywhere, but Germany & Over 2.5 would be a good one to go with as well.
