This is a fascinating encounter. Both Argentina and Belgium promised so much prior to the World Cup, and were touted amongst the favourites – yet either has really managed to impress. Despite his goals, Messi is having a shocking World Cup and has been non-existent in many of the games.

Belgium had a much similar match. They controlled and dominated the USA, with a ridiculous 27 shots on target out of 38 – but again, they couldn’t quite do the business. They went to 90 minutes at 0-0, and then had some scary moments in extra time with USA pushing and the Belgian defense exposed time and time again.
You have to wonder, based on that amount of pressure, if Argentina push and push will they end up just dominating Belgium and hammering them? It’s a real possibility.
