Could this be the weekend that the EPL title is done and dusted? Leicester City are now just one win away from making history, after Craig Dawson broke Tottenham hearts with his equaliser (after scoring an own-goal) on Monday night. A win would have put Spurs in a great position with three games to go, but now they need Leicester to slip up big time. Of course, it could still happen, but with at least one game that looks winnable on paper, and Spurs having a potential banana skin or two to negotiate, the fat lady is warming up her vocal chords, that’s for sure. Theoretically, there is still a race for second place, too, but I think it’s more likely that Manchester City and Arsenal will be fighting for third and fourth place instead, as Spurs would have to not win a game between now and the end of the season for that to happen. I think the Champions League qualification spots are now wrapped up, although Manchester United still, in theory, have a chance, but again, I can’t see it happening. They can’t take their foot off the pedal, though, as West Ham are still sniffing around for fifth place, and Liverpool are also there, too. And then there’s the relegation question too. Aston Villa are down, Sunderland have moved out of the bottom three on goal difference, and Newcastle has a stinker of a run-in, and have played a game more than Sunderland and Norwich. So are the Toon Army now resigned to at least a season in the Championship? Well, you never know, that’s for sure, and it could go right down to the wire, although Sunderland look up for a scrap, especially holding Arsenal to a 0-0 last weekend, so it’s going to be tough for the Magpies.
Followers of Mark Lawrenson’s predictions would have been quite happy with how the Saturday went. Sure, he didn’t cop much in the EPL, but he did get the Manchester City and Southampton wins correct, but he did get the Manchester United 2-1 over Everton spot on, so Saturday wasn’t a total bust, with a nice Evens win and also a 15/2 correct score coming in. However, Sunday and Monday were not great days. In fact, the only correct results Lawro managed to predict was Sunderland’s 0-0 draw with Arsenal, which was a 3/1 shot. So did he end up with a profit of a loss? Well, thanks to Manchester City and Southampton both being short prices (3/10 and 11/20 respectively), Lawro made a loss of -2.65 units, which, although not the worst loss Lawro has made us this season, it’s still not great considering some of the results last weekend. And where does that leave us with just 3 weeks of the season to go? We’re now staring at a season’s loss of -65.76 units Can you imagine if we hadn’t missed the first week of the season, and we also covered his midweek predictions? It would be absolute carnage, and Lawro would be done even more, possibly in the triple digits – it isn’t worth thinking about! But anyway, let’s look at Lawro’s predictions for this round of EPL fixtures.

There you have it, Mark Lawrenson’s predictions for this week’s EPL games, and it’s not that easy a week to predict, with several matches now more or less dead rubbers, with teams having one eye on a nice beach somewhere a lot warmer than England. And if Leicester can get a win over Manchester United, it means that Tottenham’s game on Monday will essentially be a dead rubber, too, as Leicester City will be the EPL Champions for the 2015/2016 season, and no doubt you’ll be able to hear the roar of the Foxes can no matter where you are in the UK. And if Leicester can’t do it in Sunday afternoon, they can still look to Chelsea to finish Spurs’ EPL title hopes off at Stamford Bridge on Monday night. Whatever happens, this weekend of football looks incredibly exciting.
