Well we didn’t get any cashes last week in the golf, but boy did we come close.

We had Hideki Matsuyama who went into the final day at +10 and looking excellent. I was already counting the winnings for his E/W finish while trying to decide whether or not he could catch Jason Day and get us the BIG cash.

Sadly it wasn’t to be. After a -4 day and a -5 day Matsuyama followed it up with a +1 to put him JUST out of the bloody payouts by 1 freaking place.

Unreal.

This week is the AT&T Byron Nelson and Irish Open. The Irish Open is a tricky one and I was going to avoid it but then I saw Rory McIlroy was playing. As expected he is an insanely heavy favourite at 4-1 odds. Based on that we’ve just got to place a few bets.

PGA Betting Tips: Byron Nelson

So it’s the AT&T Byron Nelson. This is one where a lot of underdogs actually win it. Last year it was the 500/1 Steven Bowditch. The year before Brandon Todd was 100/1 and the year before that, Sang-Moon Bae was 150/1. Hell in 2011 Keegan Bradley was 200/1.

Despite that I’m not so sure we’ll see a big upset this week.

I’m going to take Charley Hoffman. Hoffman is coming off that victory at the Texas Open, and back in Texas you have to hope he will be up for it here and be able to get a Top 5 performance in. He’s also performing really well at the moment and also has a good history at this course. One of the few with consistent form.

I’m betting Matt Kuchar as well. He’s a combination of good course form and good current form much like Hoffman and I’ll be hoping both of those combine.

I’m also taking texas native Ryan Palmer. Always performs well on the courses from his home state and I liked the way he has played recently.

All three of the above bets are to win and E/W.

European Tour Betting Tips: Irish Open

Like I said in the opening – I’m betting this more because Rory is participating and his odds are so short, thus making everyone elses that much better. I mean Willett is a whopping 18/1 he’d probably be more like 8/1 with a whole bunch of 10/1s and so on.

Speaking of – Danny Willett is my serious bet for this tournament and the only one I am going to be betting a half unit on.

The rest are more just “because” – not any major reason but in simulations and looking at stats they stuck out to me. Those three golfers I’ll be betting are Joost Luiten, Scott Hend and finally Peter Hanson.

Good luck. Should be a good week with two tough tournaments.
