Saturday, June 11th will kick off with Switzerland vs Albania, the 2nd game in Group A to take place. The day previously wll see Romania vs France.
Switzerland go into Group A as strong 2nd favourites. This is backed up from a decent qualifying campaign that they had where they had a 7-0-3 record. They lost to the best team in the group – England – and then also away against the tough Slovenia.
Albania meanwhile are big underdogs in the group after getting in via controversy with a chopped off game against Serbia that gave them an automatic win. However a lot of people are underrestimating the Albanians as this is a team they beat Portugal and also drew with the Danes in both of their qualificaton games.
Let’s check out the odds:
Switzerland vs Albania Match Betting Odds:
Switzerland: 3/4, 1.75, -133
Albania: 4/1, 5.00, +400
Draw: 12/5, 3.40, +240
Switzerland vs Albania Match Betting Tips:
I generally have a strict rule when it comes to betting – using decimal odds as an example, I won’t go under 1.70. The odd time I will do 1.68 etc depending on how strongly I feel about it. However I have to feel very strongly. It’s a rule that has served me strongly over the years.
Seeing Switzerland at 1.75 is very tempting. Prior to the tournament beginning I was hoping to maybe get a bet or two in on Albania expecting them to pull off a surprise. However the Switzerland odds are just too impressive to pass up.
They proved during the group stage – they can beat the majority of teams – but just not the top tier games. I think this is going to be a very good year for Switzerland. They’ve got so many solid players and are just getting better as time goes on. This is the year they are expected to make it out of the group stage and I can see it happening.
I’m going to take Switzerland to win in this one and I think they will do it fairly comfortably.
Switzerland vs Albania Prop Bets:
One thing I noticed from Switzerland in the qualifiers is they liked to leave things late. There was very few first halves against opposition other than San Marino(1 to be exact) where they were leading at the end of the first half.
Based on that, I think there is a very good chance this one is a draw at the end of the first half. The Albanians too are a very tight team defensively while they don’t exactly score many goals. I mean heack look at their record in qualification where they played 8 games and scored just 10 goals, conceding 5. And of course 3 of those goals were gifted to them.
The bookies are well aware of that hence just 1.47 odds for Under 2.5. Actually makes the Over 2.5 appealing if Switzerland run riot but I’ll stick with Draw-Switzerland which means it will be a draw at the end of the first half, but by the end of 90 minutes Switzerland shall be the victors.
