Happy Wednesday everyone, and I hope everyone is having a good week.
August is upon us and it’s quite the time for sports. The Olympics will be in action and we’ll be looking at covering some of that during the next couple of weeks.
However today we’re going to be covering the golf – both the PGA Tour and the Champions Tour – as well as the CFL Action this weekend.
Last week the PGA Championship took place and goddamn was that a fun tournament to watch. Our winning pick of Jason Day just couldn’t come in and the odds didn’t really justify betting him in E/W. But oh well what can ya do. Like I always say when it comes to golf – as long as I get 4 days worth of betting action I’m bloody happy.
Okay onto this weeks golf.
First up is the Travelers Championship. There’s nothing I feel too strongly about this week. All that means is that I will be taking a full unit and splitting it into 4 quarter unit bets.
The first quarter unit bet is on last years champion and multi time winner Bubba Watson to repeat. I’m fine with the 14/1 odds on him – I actually missed betting on him last year at 12/1. I said the odds were too slim even though he was rightly the favourite. Pretty sure I’m going to blindly bet Bubba on the Travelers until the day I die.
I’m also on course performer Kevin Streelman, Webb Simpson who SHOULD do well on this course(but rarely has) and Ryan Moore. All 3 are to win and E/W. Streelman had some nice form in June and I’m hoping he recaptures that. Simpson like I say should do better on this course than he has, and I think Ryan Moore can get a good first day and get the confidence going.
Finally the Champions Tour and I’m also doing two quarter unit bets at it. It’s the 3M Championship and multiple time winner Kenny Perry is a whopping 16/1. I know those odds make sense due to his current performances but regardless I have to bet him to win and E/W at those odds. I’m also placing a small quarter unit bet on Marco Dawson to win and E/W.
Onto CFL.
First up I’m going with Blue Bombers +3.5. I liked what I saw from Winnipeg last time out and I think they’re going to continue the momentum.
I’m also on Alouettes +2.5. I LOVED them last week and their defense – they really impressed me and I’m going to back them to continue with a big victory or tight loss versus the Lions.
My 3rd and final underdog is the Roughriders +11. Stampeders should win but I expect Saskatchewan to throw in a better performance than last week. Honestly Calgary haven’t fully impressed me this season and I feel that point spread is a bit high. Could easily see this one being a lot closer than the point spread suggests.
Finally I’m on the favourites in the Eskimos vs Redblacks game and taking the Ottawa Redblacks to cover the spread. The Eskimos have a lot of issues and I think Ottawa will be going from strength to strength.
