Welcome to the free sports betting tips for Monday, August 29nd, 2016.
After all the fun of the Olympics and wall-to-wall sport from first thing in the morning to last thing at night, I found last week quite boring. Sure, it was great to have the Premiership back, and we had some EFL Cup games midweek, but there was something great about watching fencing and rowing while having your lunch that I always miss once the Olympics finish. Still, not long now until we have those full weekends of English Premiership action and then competitive NFL action, too. If there’s one reason to love autumn and winter, it’s that.
But until then, we have the small matter of the US Open tennis to think about. After Andy Murray’s win at Wimbledon and then the Olympics, hopes are going to be high for the Scotsman. But the big questions involve Novak Djokovic. Is his wrist OK? And are his personal problems resolved and out of his mind? If they are, it’s hard to see him going out early like he did on the grass at Wimbledon, but if not, we could see another Andy Murray procession here, just like he had through the summer months. But then Murray’s defeat in Cincinnati might be a sign that he’s pushed himself just a little too hard recently. So there’s a few variables, including a certain Juan Martin Del Potro to consider when looking at the US Open. Regardless of that, it’ll be a great two weeks of tennis, no matter what happens.
Now, let’s get onto the free sports betting tips for August 29th, 2016.
US Open Tennis Betting Tips
I’ll look at all the first round matches of August 29th and hopefully find some value in both the men’s and women’s draws. It’s all well and good dollying up some short price jollies for you to back, so hopefully I can sniff out the value in the first round of the US Open tennis.
Jordan Thompson to beat Steve Darcis. It’s the age thing here. Thompson is on the rise, he’s young and hungry, and I like his serve a lot. Darcis, on the other hand, is a floater in these sorts of tournaments. He’s capable of taking a scalp here or there, but it won’t be long until we stop seeing him in the big ones. Get on the youngster to progress at odds-against.
Brain Baker to beat Federico Delbonis. It’s purely down to the home player factor here. That being said, Baker is no mug, and if he’s fit, he should have the taking of Delbonis anyway, but add into that the edge US-based players will have and I think Baker is great value at odds-against.
Mischa Zverev to beat Pierre Hugues Herbert. The bookies have this a coin flip, but I think Zverev’s experience should shine through here. It’s not going to be a pretty one, but Zverev seems to have a few more tricks in his locker than Herbert. Zverev also came through qualifying comfortably, so he should be match fit.
Anna Lena Friedsam to beat Roberta Vinci. A slightly controversial choice here, but the world No.7, Vinci, has a horrible draw here. Friedsam is on the up and up, and I like her for the same reasons I love Jordan Thompson. While Vinci’s was last year’s finalist, she’s not had the greatest of times in 2016’s Grand Slams, and has reverted back to her wonderfully inconsistent ways. She’s far too short here, and I like the German as a huge bit of value.
