So, we’re back after the international break, and for England fans, it was a great weekend, as it was for Northern Ireland fans, even if they did lose their unbeaten home record in a friendly. It was heartbreaking for Wales fans, but the worst hangover the weekend was for Scotland fans, after their team’s humiliating 3-0 defeat by England. The Scots started off brightly, but that gave way to shoddy defending. As a Scotsman myself, it wasn’t great, but, hey, I expected it. This week, we’re back to a full compliment of English Premiership action, but more importantly we’re back to a full compliment of Mark Lawrenson’s predictions, which is the most important thing, isn’t it? Sure, the football is good and all that, but it’s even better finding out just how good or bad Lawro’s predictions are.
And how did Mark Lawrenson get on last time out? After his great run of results, things weren’t as greatest a fortnight ago. Lawro did predict the 1-1 draw in the West Ham vs Stoke game and the Chelsea win on the Saturday, but he only managed to get the Liverpool win and the Manchester United win right on the Sunday. So, his winners were priced at 5/2, 6/1, 1/2, 2/7 and 8/11, with the rest being losers. So his great run has come to and end, and Lawro ended up with a loss for the first time in a few weeks, and that loss was -4.99 units, which could have been a lot worse. So, although we were starting to get back towards the black, that loss pushes us further into the red and an overall loss of -12.57 units. But have faith, as we’re still only a third of the way into the season, and we also have Lawro’s always fantastic FA Cup predictions to come in the New Year, too, which is always funny.

Now, has Lawro made any predictions that shock us this week? Yet again, no. Although he’s up against Rick Astley in his predictions, and Rick has gone for a 7-0 win for Manchester United. If that wins, I’ll give him the money myself. There’s not much value to be had in Lawro’s predictions either, which is a shame, but still, a couple of correct scores to go with some correct results and we’re laughing, so fingers crossed his safe selections finally come up trumps.
