In the eyes of many, tonight’s Ohio State vs Clemson match-up is the far more intriguing college football playoff game and that is the reason that it is in the prime time spot on television. While on paper it seems like these two are far more evenly matched (and the sportsbooks agree as this game has just a -2.5 line in favor of OSU), it might not be as close as it appears.
Clemson was 12-1 on the season, but they should consider themselves lucky to be here. They had six wins by a touchdown or less that could’ve easily gone the other way. The Tigers were very inconsistent at times this year and especially saw that shine through in the run game.
Meanwhile, the Ohio State Buckeyes were one of the most consistent teams in all of college football and Urban Meyer is one of the game’s best big game coaches. You can make an argument that this team didn’t play a “bad” game all season and it’s hard to imagine them starting now on the biggest possible stage.
Fiesta Bowl Betting Tips:
The story of this game will be Ohio State’s defense versus Clemson’s offense. We’ll start with the running game that saw Clemson rank just 67th in the nation, just a year after being a top 25-team in that category. They are in trouble tonight against OSU who sport the nation’s 14th best run defense. We’ve seen them bring things to another level in their biggest games like their game against Michigan when they took that stout running game and held it to just 91 yards.
DeShaun Watson will be the key for Clemson, but he will be facing the best secondary he has seen all season in the Buckeyes. 19 interceptions, seven of which were returned for touchdowns should be striking fear into the Clemson QB whose biggest weakness is his turnovers.
This game just feels like a blowout. Ohio State -2.5 feels better in every way and Urban Meyer is a big game coach. Honestly, Washington-Alabama should be the better game. The Buckeyes got this one in the bag.
NBA Betting Tips:
The Milwaukee Bucks have absolutely owned the Chicago Bulls the last two times out as they swept a home and home by a combined 37 points. The Bulls are just a clogged up offense right now that is considering firing their coach while the Bucks sports two of the most exciting young players in the league. I’m all over Milwaukee +2.5 tonight.
One of the scariest teams in the league right now is the Utah Jazz. George Hill has been an outstanding addition for them, Rudy Gobert is one of the scariest defensive players in the league and Gordon Haywood is turning into a superstar. This is one of the only teams in the league that is in the top 10 in defense and offense this year and they are making a run towards a home court playoff series. It’s hard not to love them tonight against the lowly Phoenix Suns who are just a mess of rookies and veterans. Jazz -10 is an easy play here.
