Well golf is back just one week and we already had our first winning bet of the year.
I tipped Jordan Spieth last week to finish in the Top 4 and he did just that. Hilariously I completely forgot I did that – instead I thought I bet him to win and I was sitting there raging that he couldn’t win. Then I checked my betting account and oh hey I made the right call!
Two tournaments this week.
Sony Open Betting Picks: I’m betting Jimmy Walker to win or E/W here at a nice price. He’s got solid course form and I think he can be a contender. He’s won here before so he knows how to handle this course regardless of the weather.
That’s my only serious bet for this week. The rest are all just bets on a whim – I think I just feel the need to gamble. 5 quarter unit bets on the following: Zac Blair, Charles Howell III, Zach Johnson, Si-Woo Kim, Hudson Swafford.
For most of them it’s based on course form as it’s hard to back current form but I also like Zach Johnson to pull off some surprises this year and get back to his A game.

BMW SA Open Betting Picks: These are more fun bets as until we really see these golfers week to week it’s hard to judge how they’ll perform. I’m placing all for a quarter unit and to win and E/W: Trevor Fisher Jr, Lee Slattery, George Coetzee, Dean Burmester.

Only 4 games on the cards tonight. Here’s what I’m betting:
Islanders vs Panthers Betting Tips: The Islanders offense has been disappointing the last few games however I like this one to go Over 5 Goals. We’ve seen how potent the Islanders offense can be and well rested with both teams having poor defenses I like this one to go Over 5 Goals. This one I’m not fully confident about however for a variety of reasons. I could see both teams winning or the under. I’d personally stay away.
Penguins vs Capitals Betting Tips: We’ve just got to go with Over 5.5 Goals in this game. I mean you’ve got two of the best offenses in the NHL and the Penguins are going to be out for blood after that 7-1 loss last time. However the Capitals are playing great hockey and their offense is clicking. I like this to be a fast and high pressure game full of goals.
Sharks vs Flames Betting Tips: Sharks coming off that big win last night against Edmonton. They’re looking for some consistency against a team who they pumped 4-1 just 3 weeks ago. The Flames generally have that consistency at home over the last couple of weeks but it’s not exactly a murderers row of teams – Canucks, Coyotes and Avs. I see value in the Sharks here.
Canadiens vs Jets Betting Tips: Laine is out for the Jets of course so the question is whether they can score or not. They were able to do well against the Flames the other night. Montoya is in net who isn’t fully trustworthy for the Habs. However I see value in the Habs here and will take Montreal to win. Nice underdog price for them.
