It’s time for a Midweek Madness edition of the Lawro Audit, as the English Premiership gets back into action after a manic weekend of FA Cup Fourth Round matches. I say manic, but there were some mental results, not least Liverpool losing to Wolves in the weekend’s second game after Derby drew with Leicester. We almost have another huge casualty, as Spurs came back from 3-2 down to beat Wycombe 4-3 in the last minute of the game. But we saw plenty of shocks with non-league Lincoln and Sutton knocking out high-flying Championship sides Brighton and Leeds. The other high-flyyers in the Championship, Newcastle, were also sent packing by Oxford. Now, I have to say that I was disappointed at the amount of weakened teams put out, not just by the Premiership sides, but by those high-flying Championship teams. It kind of detracts from the FA Cup, when they’re all concentrating on that glorious Premiership money. I think it’s time the FA got involved and started going in hard on sides that fielded weakened starting line-ups in the cup again. But that’s just me, let me know what you think in the comments.
When it comes to Mark Lawrenson, he’s usually terrible when it comes to the FA Cup. The third round of matches saw his nice profit just destroyed, and it’s become traditional that Lawro just burns money with his FA Cup predictions. So the fact that he had a nice profit going into this FA Cup weekend just scared me and I knew what was going to happen. Well, what I thought was going to happen didn’t actually happen. Lawro nailed three correct scores and 11 correct results, all to the tune of 14.59 units. Unbelievable, right? That means that Lawro’s profit for the season now stands at an amazingly impressive 33.20 units. Seriously, your eyes are not playing tricks on you, Lawro is in profit and it’s a huge profit.

There is one prediction that sticks out like a sore thumb there, isn’t there? Yes, Lawro is predicting Sunderland beat Tottenham, which, for most, is a seriously brave pick. But because the big man is in profit, I won’t pass any judgement. Well, until he goes back into a loss, then the knives will be out!
