The season is still young, but we have yet to see Coors Field be Coors Field. We’ve had a few high scoring games, but nothing where the runs just don’t seem to stop. That could come tonight as the lowly Padres face the Rockies. On the mound will be Jered Weaver who is a crafty pitcher, but struggles to top the mid-80s with his fastball and those could go a long way in the light Coors Field air. Rockies’ rookie Antonio Senzatela looked great in his first start, but this one will be a different animal. Coors Field should be rocking tonight and the ball should be flying.
The big game tonight is an AL East battle between the Red Sox and Orioles. The Orioles are once again doing well despite the projection systems not seeing them as a good team. It’s a young season, but a 4-1 start with more dominance from closer Zach Britton and the bullpen is a good sign. They’ll have their hands full with the Red Sox tonight who are considered to be the best team in the American League.
As always we have a full slate of MLB games today so let’s get right into the tips.
MLB Betting Tips:
The Red Sox will see Drew Pomeranz make his season debut at Fenway Park tonight. The Orioles offense can be tough of lefties, but I like him better than I like Dylan Bundy for the O’s. Bundy looked great in his first start against the Jays. Toronto’s offense has struggled a bit early though and the Red Sox attack is a bit more balanced. The bullpen battle is just about even as well. I have to take the Red Sox -113 tonight.
Last night we saw a really high scoring game in Washington between the Cardinals and Nationals. Washington scored 14 runs last night and they really rocked the Cards bullpen. St. Louis will need a big night from Lance Lynn to get them a win tonight and that doesn’t seem likely. He’s not an elite pitcher and the Nationals have absolutely destroyed lefties early. I’m all over the Nationals -133 tonight.
I hate betting overs when they are this high, but tonight’s Rockies-Padres game just seems too good to be true. These two teams put up eight runs with good pitchers on the mound last night, but tonight with Weaver and Senzatela things could get really out of hand. This will be a fun one. Over 12 runs
Seattle and Houston continue their season-long battle for the AL West tonight with Joe Musgrove on the mound for the Astros against Ariel Miranda. The Astros always hit lefties well and Miranda is a non-elite option. Musgrove is a decent option, but the Mariners offense seemed to wake up yesterday and will benefit from seeing Musgrove for the second time this year. This should be a great game tonight and over 8.5 runs feels like it’s in play. The Mariners bullpen hasn’t excited much early and the Astros kill lefties. Feels like a 6-5 game to me.
