Last night we saw the Spurs erase their deficit and tie up the series. It looked like this was going to be an ugly series after game one, but the Spurs came out strong and this thing is now tied. This should be a long series, but I hope that we get a close game at some point. We have enough blowouts in the Raptors versus Cavaliers series.
Tonight the playoffs roll on as the Wizards and Celtics move to Washington while the Warriors and Jazz play game two in Golden State. The Wizards in game two was one of my favorite bets, but Isaiah Thomas put on a super human performance in the fourth quarter and overtime while John Wall and Bradley Beal seemed to get tired as the game got late. I have’t always been a believer in Thomas due to his height, but he really made me a believer in that game. He simply owned the court at the end of that game.
The Warriors won big, but not big enough if you were betting on them in game one. The line is slightly lower tonight, but still high at -12.5. The Jazz lost by 12 in the first game, but they should be encouraged as they were able to hold the Warriors below 110 points. The big wins for them come when they exceed that number.
NBA Betting Tips:
Despite the result of game two, I still believe in this Wizards team. For the first 40-ish minutes of that game on Tuesday they were owning the Celtics. Then Isaiah Thomas time happened and spurned by the hot home crowd he was able to take it to another level. That home court advantage was seemingly the difference and tonight the home court switches. That will be huge for this Washington team that has fans who have been dying for their team to do well in the playoffs.
I think the Wizards unlocked something in game two that was undone by fatigue and super Isaiah. I think they’ll be able to avoid those things tonight and make this a series. Wizards -5.5
Golden State had the longest layoff of any team in the first round and I think that impacted them a bit on the defensive end in game one. The Jazz shot 46% in game one, something that the Blazers didn’t do in a single game of that series. They also lost the rebounding battle. I think there is a good thing that we see those numbers flip and the Warriors defense ramp up a level for game two and they roll in this one. Warriors -12.5
NHL Betting Tips:
The Rangers are a huge favorite at -170 tonight to even the series against the Ottawa Senators. The Sens have been playing well, but it looks like the books don’t quite believe in them tonight on the road. That’s okay though because we’re not interested in who wins. We’re interested in the score. This has been one of the higher scoring series of the playoffs thus far and the Rangers are capable of putting up big numbers. If things get out of hand early, this one could blow away the over 5 goals line.
