Welcome to Wednesday, May 10th.
It’s a big day in sports with the most important action being in the NHL. We’ve got two Game 7s with the Pittsburgh Penguins versus the Washington Capitals and the Anaheim Ducks vs the Edmonton OIlers.
In the golf this week we’ve got the Players Championship which should be good.
Funnily enough looking at my history I’ve never actually won a freaking bet at the Players Championship – well, not ones that I’ve publicly posted as tips anyway.
Hoping to change that this week as I’m on a nice run from April on and been very unlucky with 3 players.
$200 unit bettors have had the following returns:
– $300 Lexi Thompson at the ANA Inspiration
– $270 Justin Rose at the US Masters
– $925 Luke Donald at the RBC Heritage
– $675 William McGirt at the RBC Heritage
– $725 Cristie Kerr at the LPGA Shootut
That was all in April. Last week we had a 1/2 unit bet on Kevin Tway at 70/1 and here’s the betting slip:
Hoping to continue this run with my golf betting tips.
Let’s get to it:
The Players Championship Betting Picks:
Justin Thomas: I loved the way he ended the Zurich Classic. In terms of momentum off a single round there’s no-one better at the moment. Thomas had a Top 5 Finish at last years Players Championship and he’s worth half a unit to win and each-way.
Francesco Molinari: Course form is the big one here. TPC Sawgrass is a tough course but Molinari has performed well for many years here. I’m going with a quarter unit to win and each-way.
Jordan Spieth: Look give me +1000 or above and it takes a lot for me not to bet on Spieth man. The guy is a golfer who can perform at any course and he’s +1300 here. I’m so happy with that price that I’m on him to win and each-way for half a unit.
Ben Crane: A small bet of one eigth a unit to win and each way
Adam Scott: Course form and current form dictate this pick. Quarter unit to win and each way.
NHL Playoff Picks Game 7s:
These are two extremely tough games.
I feel like I’ve got to take Penguins to win. I don’t feel too good about it though. However coming off that last game while the Capitals were absolutely dominant you have to remember that the Penguins were brutal as well. It was one of the worst performances I’ve ever seen from the Pittsburgh Penguins all season long to be honest and I have to think they’ll pick themselves up.
Maybe they were just too confident especially being at home. Now their backs are against the wall. Either way similar to the Jordan Spieth pick above – give me a certain amount of odds and I’ll bet the Pittsburgh Penguins. 2.70 hits that for me. It’s one of those where I can bet it and if it loses I still feel I made the right move value wise.
Oilers/Ducks is a bit more tricky. Oilers you can get them at 2.04 and I feel it’s a right 50/50 game so who the hell knows. That’s not enough value for me. However the way the Oilers have performed I think I’d rather be on them.
So both road teams tonight. Ones gotta come in.
